Sharp character and explosive - yet controlled sustain, with a good dynamic range. This is what makes this a reliable cymbal in any environment and setting. A great accent cymbal to cut all the way through all rumbling, humming and shimmering frequencies or just to improve the range of nuances.

A cheap sounding china, BUT, it fits in so many styles, and it still sounds good in the context of a busy mix, I have tracked drums with this china being played and mixed the tracks and it sounded really nice, delivers the evil whack sound I was looking for.

Lotta people will compain about this cymbal breaking - it's thin construction contributes a sharp in then out attack with little sustain. But what do you expect if you're a metal drummer or a hard hitter using this cymbal - it is going to break quickly. It is like eating McDonalds burgers everyday for two months and feeling unhealthy, of course it's going to break quicker than most cymbals. But the sound you will get from this is totally worth it.

This China produces a great sound that cuts through from most drum line. However, because it is so thin, it can get dented easily if you get your technique wrong when you're a hard hitter. This China makes a sound very similar to the one used in Metallica's "And Justice For All", although it only does so at medium to low volumes. Because of its size, the decay is very sharp, even though this is one of the things I love about it! If you aren't a particularly hard hitter, but want to experiment on the cheap, I highly recommend it. A great alternative to this is the "Zultan 14" China Yin Series" which performs much better at higher volumes, for harder hitters.

I didn't have the space for a grown up china cymbal so i needed one that came closest and this one is the winner! I'm glad it is a HHX Evolution because most of my other cymbals are:). The sound is.... Smooth! Not too harsh, not too sharp, more body than you'd expect from 14 inch... Not too pengy/clangy, no, more washy. but... SABIAN HAS GOT A SUPER FRIKKING UGLY NEW LOGO!! And because of the upside-down usage that INSANELY STUPID LOGO stares at me! So bad that i decided to play the cymbal the original way and i have to say: It is better like that! I moved my Ozone 18 to the other side so no i'm looking for an 18 HHX china but there's no Evolution available. And it looks like i have to hang the logo downwards... Stupid Sabian-assholes... What's the most important logo on a Sabian...
