Meinl 20" Byzance Extra Dry China

Meinl 20

Based on 3 reviews

It sounds (and looks) like no other china: it is dark, ominous and dirty, a sound so complex and exotic that defies description. A vigorous stroke on the lip produces an explosive response, followed by a deep roar that decays very fast, without the clanginess usual in chinas. But the cymbal is equally amazing as a ride, generating very different sounds depending on where you hit it, how hard you hit it and with which part of the drumstick you hit it. Comparing it with two other (outstanding) Meinl Byzance chinas that I own, it is faster than the Dark China 18 (due to the lathed underside and the lighter weight) and less clangy than the Extra Dry China 16. When used as a ride, it has less stick definition than the Dark China 18. The sound palette is so rich and the cymbal is so responsive...

Zultan 20" Rock Beat China

Zultan 20

Based on 2 reviews

The Zultan 20" china cymbal is an excellent effects cymbal.Played right side up or inverted,it`s sound would be best described as sparkling.Dark trashiness coupled with just the right amount of white noise combine with cascading overtones and a beautiful decay to produce an emotive and musical sound.I am sure it`s the "made in Istanbul" factor that gives this cymbal it`s edge.I preferred this cymbal over other more expensive and more famous brands.I think one of the strengths of this cymbal is that it hasn`t been over hammered which has resulted in a cleaner "trash" sound than you would normally expect from a china cymbal.I consider this cymbal better than both the Zildjian Oriental range and the Paiste 2002 series. The price is right and combined with the...

Istanbul Mehmet 20" China Turk Series

Istanbul Mehmet 20

Based on 2 reviews

The Turk series is essentially an extremely good cymbal series. This China, in my opinion, is the pinnacle of the series though. The first 20-inch China I owned and it's simply beautiful sounding. Nothing bad to say about it. Extremely versatile. It sounds great and the quality doesn't disappoint. As all Istanbul products, it's fantastic and it lives up to the expectations.

Zildjian 21" A-Serie Ultra Hammer China

Zildjian 21

Based on 1 reviews

WOW!! What can I say about this china, its loud, musical (for a china), cutting and looks superb! I went for the 21" version purely because I wanted loud, I was concerned that it might be a little too deep in tone but its not, its sharp high pitched attack (with warmth) really adds to my musical palet. The cymbal is actually very thin, I thought I would be alot heavier but its not, which I suppose is good. This no way questions my thoughts on it not lasting, its taken a good beating and has hardly any marks. In short this is a lovely musical cymbal that would sit beautifully in any setup.
