Palmer Monicon L
Passive Monitor Controller

Latest User Reviews
ok for speakers management In small studios!
one of the few at this price range to have a mono output where you can connect a mix cube for references ,or a sub!
Great
Great except:
The big knob is very smooth and it can be difficult to notice if you're actually turning ot or if your fingers just slide along the sides of it.
The aux channel does not go through the main volume knob. I would probably prefer it if it did.
Palmer speaker controller
This is a well made, great sounding passive monitor controller for speakers.
My only issue is that the headphone amp cannot take loud input without distorting. The speaker ins and outs are really good. It gives a clear uncoloured sound from your DAW to your Speakers,
Featured packed unit in a tiny housing!
Love at first sight, great for the enthusiast/mini-home studio setup!
I use it to switch between my CD Player and 3.5mm inputs onto my Yamaha HS8 monitors. The PFL headphone output is also a great feature which let's you switch flawlessly between both inputs regardless of what's being sent to the XLR outputs (they can be muted for all we care). The Stereo and Aux inputs have separate level control which is great if you want to match the level of the two for A/B comparisons.
The mono sum output is great but only works with output 2 which is kind of a downside if you have a sub that you want to run separately with both outputs.
Other than that, great quality build, the knobs and buttons feel solid and splendid audio quality!
Good Job Palmer!
Passive control
Very useful to swith between different monitors without coloring your signal path.
It's passive but has a power adapter, so the lights and headphone amp can turn on!
Elegant monitor control
I bought this as I have 2 pairs of monitors and headphones and wanted to easily and conveniently switch between them during mixing.
The Palmer Monicon helps you switch between various monitoring systems such as various speakers or headphones during mixing or your home theatre. It also has a mono button to easily collapse your mix to mono - so no more mono plugin buttons on that master bus!
But the biggest asset of this device is that the controls are sturdy so it helps builds a more disciplined & frame of reference of what levels you regularly monitor at. No more forgetting what volume you were at on that old flimsy volume knob!
The combination of this monitoring device and my small mixer has helped bring my modest small home studio up several notches to a more professional look and feel!
Sad but true: induces distortion.
I bought the unit about 2 weeks ago and have been loving the quality of life improvement while recording and listening to music. It was only because I had to mix something for a client this weekend that I noticed something (after about an hour of trying to figure out why the trumpets in my mix were distorting): the unit was inducing distortion. I only realized this because, after turning off/on most plugins in my mix to no avail, I decided to plug the headphone jack directly in the interface output, and presto: no distortion!
So, I would give this a higher rating, but if you're gonna be using this for mixing or mastering (which I guess most people will), then don't buy it. No matter how much of a good deal it seems, it's a monitor controller that distorts the output, so it's not worth the money. In fact, I'm returning mine.
*Too long, didn't read* I realized that the unit induces distortion in your mix, so it's not worth buying.
Fantastic controller
Great unit - nice to have 2 outputs and the aux in which is very useful. Very solid, durable build and looks great. Passive, so little/no colouration of sound - none that I could hear anyway. Only reason I gave the quality 4 stars instead of 5 was because some of the knobs and buttons have different resistances and the buttons sometimes fall out the pots if you catch them too hard - very minor detail though. Would definitely buy again.
