Guitar DI box with useful features

Great quality DI box especially for use with guitar. I sometimes use this with amps without a line out to get a "speaker simulated" signal to the desk. The speaker simulated settings sounds authentic to me.

It's a great box, and like all the Palmer gear I have, it's very well made. Much better value than the Behringer IMHO.

Great little device

I've used the PDI-09 for about 2 years now. It really makes life easier if you're playing with a band or production that uses a digital mixer and presets. And especially if you're using in-ears. The great thing about it is that you will get the exact same sound from your amp to the mixer. The room or stage dosen't natter. It's easier to set up than a microphone and it actually sounds like a a cab with a mic in front of it. The xlr output delivers a fairly "finished" or "processed" tone. Which works live but in a studio situation however, producers don't seem to like it. You get a different presence with a microphone that's easier to work with. It features a ground lift, a 3-way switch for padding the xlr output and a 3-way tone switch (which is pretty bright, I've used it in the darkest setting.).

Good device.

Really handy box for recording guitar direct. The tone is the best from the ones I've tested. It has three modes (bright, normal, mellow) which gives few choices to work with. The tone from the PDI is workable although can be a bit grainy. It does not have the thump of miced cabinet, but quite often you have to cut that out anyway in the mix.

I found it handy that you can use Thru out to record ie. dry preamp tone that can be used with impulses. I give minor minus for the fact that mode (bright, normal, mellow) seems to affect a bit the sound of Thru out as well.

Remember to have cab connected if you're using this with amp, head or power amp! This device does not have load.

a very good tool

The Palmer Junction is more than it looks like.if you think about a DI box for Guitars, you may have a look at this very fine tool.

At first you will be surprised about the weight. This little piece is built in in a whole metal housing. It just looks like undistroyable. This little Box is not only a DI box with this you can vary your sound in many ways. You are allowed to connect it between your Guitar and your Pramp or between your Amp and the Speaker. You dont need a Microphone to put your sound to the Mixing console. There are to possibilities to change the Sound. It is possible to use 3 types of Sound and in addition to this you can use a Speaker Simulation.

You dont need a battery to play with the Junction. And the sound is really great.

Perfect for Gigs without Amp

First thing to say: I was looking for a setup without Amp, because i have no driving licence and i don't want to annoy the other band members to take me over every time.

So i bought an AMT Preamp and this little speakersim. So i only need my Guitar and Pedalboard.

For features i give only 4 stars because for me personally the 3 characteristics are kind of unnecessary, the middle one sounds as good, that i never change it!

Sound: It really surprised me and it is in my opinion the best Speaker Simulation in this price-range. It improves as well the sound of your multi-effect-pedal, if wired between that and the mixer, because this sim is way better!

Conclusion: Perfect solution for me for a no-amp-setup!

Easy to use - Good sound

After 3 years - I'm still using The junction for my recordings at home.

It is really that easy! Just plugged it between my Amp and the speaker and viola - time to record!

I was very impressed how easy it is to record now! Without my speaker I can play my solid state amp without being loud! So my family loves it :-)).

And it is more easy for me to play and train my skills without noises.

So - what does it sound like?

I used a SansAmp PSA with it at first. The possibility to change the "type" of box (Bright, Normal and Mellow) is just awesome. Perfect sounding for my Fender Strat - and also fo my Rock tones! :-)

Today I'm using several Solid State Bass Amps at home for recording. It still runs - and it's still great.

I can just recommend the PDI! Very good for recording and live situations!

Useful little tool

I have one of these mounted to my Fender Twin using the option mounting plate. Doesn't take up much room and has handy features. I like one of the sounds on it, but the others don't really suit the amp. Also wish you could bypass the cab simulation completely.

Fantastic!

I bought 2 of these to send the output from my stereo Boogie rig to the pa desk and they work brilliantly. I get my perfect sound every gig with no stage spill into backline mikes. Also no power supply required. Highly recomended.
