Not good for studio use.
Sturdy good build quality and nice design, but sadly not really useful for studio recording use. I was hoping it might clean up my guitar signals a bit, and to be fair it does isolate the player from the guitar (ie. there is no longer any extra buzz when the player lets go of the strings), but unfortunately this comes at the cost of adding a lot of noise to the signal and also reduces the overall gain level and shaves of some high end. Not good for noise or tone basically. Unless you specifically want to do some guitar feedback thing where the player isn't touching the strings, I'd give this thing a miss. Lots of people are saying it's good for live sound though, which I know very little about so it might be useful in other areas.

If you have pedals and a tube amp, you need at least one of these in your life...
Eliminates hum
I have a MM Majesty guitar. Stereo cable and splitter box. Without this box on the piezo-side, you will get hum. This litte box removes all of that. Lokk at Petrucci gear rundown on youtube. You can see he has one.
Does what it should do
At a gig when my tube guitar amp was humming, probably because of interference from lights or wiring at the venue, the soundman plugged one of these in between my pedalboard and amp and the hum disappeared. I made a note of what the hum cancelling device was called and bought one myself. This is very handy - especially when playing solo gigs with clean sounds through a tube amp, where humming and buzzing from the amp can be very annoying. This little box has made hum a non-issue on many occasions now. A great tool.
It seems well and sturdy built too.
Great tool
Really useful for when you can't find the hum in a hurry! Used at festival changeovers in a rush before and really saved the day when it wasn't obvious where the noise was coming from. The box is build really solid overall quality feels really good, I wouldn't worry about carrying a spare item with this, I feel it is very reliable and it has certainly never let me down. Maybe write your name on it or something though as it could easily go walk abouts in a festival situation! Anything that can identify it to you would be sensible. Highly recommended and it's always in my tool box!
Does the job.
Well made, not too expensive, removes those earth loops without unduly colouring the sound - just what I needed thanks :-)
Very effective!
This little box from Palmer does what you would expect and does it very well! I have used it in a couple of different positions in my signal chain: after my effects and between my master amp and its slave where I had previously noticed noise being introduced, my signal is now crystal clear and with no noticable side effects (volume loss etc). I'll be purchasing a couple more in the near future.
