Once the string is changed and settled it has a nice sound and is durable but my god, sometimes it takes SEVERAL strings to change is as they often snap at the time of changing. No, I am not heavy handed, even my teacher did it for me a few times and it still happened. Hence is the 4 stars. But I think this would probably happen with any other brands too as this is the tightest one of all so bound to snap.

Rounded and balanced sound with my Tonicas. Beautiful and sweet especially on the higher notes. Full bodied and not too bright even in the high registers. Does occasionally whistle during fast string crossings especially when the air is dry. Very good value for the price and quality.

This wound E string sounds as an extension of the other strings, not as a completely separate entity as many E strings do. If you want a piercing and clear sound out of your E string, this string is not for you. If you want a mellow and warmer sound that is more in line with the other strings, you won't be able to find any better than this one. I have used it on an electric violin so the sound would not be so thin, and the string performed that task perfectly. Highly recommended.

I've tried LOTS of E-strings, they all sound aggressive or whistle on my old violin. Except the Hill. I come back to it no matter what. It sounds round, not aggressive yet powerful. And it lasts decently long and tunes well. I pair it up with Corelli Crystal for A, D and G and love the combination, perfectly balanced.

those string a very good in terms of projection , precision and details. They are great for soloists but unfortunately they loose their sound after a very short time , maybe few days to few weeks. they are still good choice for an important event , and audition , a concert or a masterclass and their break in time is very short. i don't recommend if you are low in budget as they are not a good economic choice. i give 5 stars as they still bring a great sound and quality.

I heard about the Pirastro Passione Violin E 4/4 0.26 violin string through online stores, so I bought it that way. My opinion is that this string is ideal for my valuable and old instrument. It has a nice color and good response and goes great with other wires from other brands. The wire has a good duration and does not crack. in conclusion, an excellent wire for every recommendation

well i've been using a lot of strings lately to chose what's best for me those ones are very affordrable as spare strings and they sound so bright and sharp they deliver a quality sound close to evah pirazzi strings. for me i use them as spare E strings instead of buying any other strings that will be kinda cheaper but won't be worth it. those ones you can just change em and keep em and use em as a non spare strings too

After years of dealing with the dreaded Dominant E, I decided to find a better replacement. Forums suggested Jargar Forte E, Goldbrokat or Hill. I ended my journey abruptly with the Jargar Forte, Straight out of the packet it was great sounding. It broke in very quickly and has excellent tuning stabilility. It pairs very well with the Dominant G,D and A I have. Their isn't an obvious 'break' when crossing from the Dominant A to the Jargar E; the timbres of the different strings blend very well. The higher tension string on my violin gives me more projection, and a nice tone without being overly bright. I have had the string on for about 2 months now and it still sounds as good as when I put it on.

If your fiddle is warm and richly expressive until you hit the E string, but then becomes hard & metallic in tone, try this Pirastro Gold. I use Evah Pirazzi strings and this transformed the top octave of my violin, matching the tone of the other strings perfectly. I will not be going back....

Used with Dominant Alu medium set, this gave a nice tone and balance on my Yamaha V5, but aggravated my issues with string crossing from certain notes, where the E string would invariably get struck on a harmonic, unless I took measures (bow or fingering) to get it started on the actual note.
