Good responsive pads but slightly confusing integration with Studio one

Works great but it's hard to get used to the fact that it works in a completely different way when used with Presonus software. The pads are sensitive enough to get expressive control and it's easy to change sensitivity. I've had mine for quite a while and so far it works just like it did out of the box, seems to be built like a tank. (I've carried mine with me on travels multiple times with no issues at all)

Great if it's your thing

Got this for my son who knocks endless fun out of it. Not my bag but different strokes... I'm too old for this gadget.

Simple but powerful

In combination with Studio One, the Atom is a very powerful device. You can use it for way more than drumming, as you can control the DAW’s channels and various top-level functions/menus.

It does what it is supposed to and it is very reasonable for the price. The only negative is that the pads are quite stiff and require a bit of whacking before they make any sound. Sturdy they are though.

Brilliant controller

Bought to use with Studio One. Perfect for tapping out rhythms and controlling playback etc. Easy to use and set up and very intuitive. Great purchase for the price

PreSonus Atom

All the videos regarding setting up the Atom are little misleading with regard to plug and go. You must make sure the firmware is bang up to date or it will not work and l found l had to restart the system for it all to kick in. But once this was done it all works brilliantly and does exactly what l want it to do. I would recommend it.

Versatile USB Controller

I purchased the Atom to work with my Studio One 4 Pro DAW software and really like the workflow and versatile pads. The Atom has easily assignable pads for various sound sets. The pads are perfectly responsive to my choice of midi plugins. There are several banks as well.

One down side is that the Atom does not have a power switch and remains on as long as the PC is on. It doesn't cause any issues or use much energy. Hopefully, there is a fix coming from Presonus. However, to avoid connecting and disconnecting the Atom and taking a chance and having a loose USB input, I just shout down my PC at night. You could use a switchable USB Hub to solve this issues as well. I might do that in the future. Never-the-less, I really like this controller and would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of device.

just not right

The pads are decent, they play/respond well. The rotary encoders though- they are as poor as I've come across ever. The response of the encoders is really slow and makes them impossible to use. A lot of features under a shift button also doesn't make it an intuitive unit for me. Comes with Studio One Artist though which is a great software. The unit doesn't feel as sturdy as I'd hoped.

Excellent

Works exceptionally with Studio one 4. Quality is superb at this price point. The combination with Presonus Atom and the Faderport 2018 is really helpful for working in Studio One! Highly recommended if you plan to work in Studio One 4.!
