Great Uke strings
Bought these to replace the thick rubbery standard bass strings on my bass ukulele. The feel and sound of these strings is much much better than the standard rubbery ones. They feel good, sound much louder and clearer and amplify well. A big improvement overall.
Nice balanced sound
Good quality, well balanced strings.
Good alternative to gut strings
Sounds much brighter that gut strings (as expected) but still keeps a faily good bassy sound.
Great alternative to the standard U-bass type strings
I use these on a second uke bass and they sound great. Whereas the standard Kala U-bass type strings sound quite mellow and double bass-like, these sound more like bass guitar strings. Quite a bit brighter and more harmonics than the plastic/rubber style strings. They fitted my bass great and I must admit I use this bass now more than the one with the original U-bass style strings. The tension of the strings is also slightly higher and if you struggle slightly with standard U-bass strings which tend to 'roll' and move under your fingers a bit when playing then you might want to give these a try - much closer to playing an electric bass. I can't really think of anything negative about them - I've had them on my bass for quite a while and they seem to stay nice and bright sounding. They let me get different tones from the bass depending on how I play - more so than the original strings which sound more or less the same however you play them.
It might be worth your while checking the length of string required for your U-Bass, as these strings fell a tiny bit short for mine. What I mean by that is that on some of the strings, the part from the nut to the machinehead, the string isn't fully wound like the playing part of the string, it's thinner (presumably to help with tunage slipping), but the strings could do with another inch or two of the fully wound string part as it very nearly didn't fit mine. It wasn't until the strings were fully tuned up and settled that the fat part of the string was sitting on the nut. It almost didn't fit. That said, they did fit just about in the end.
In terms of sound, they sound like steel wound bass strings. If that's the sound you're looking for, this are definitely worth a go. Now that I've tried these strings on my U-Bass, I'm not going back to the rubbery strings.
pyramid bass strings
just a small review on the bass strings, i bought the strings to replace the big thick uke strings as i felt they were to big and bulky, the pyramid strings give you the feel of a real bass string so if you are used to playing bass strings these are the ideal strings for you.
i thought that the strings would not give you that true bass sound as it was a travel bass that i bought but suprisingly i was overwhelmed by the sound that i got off these bass strings, from a very mellow sound to a more modern bright sound by just using the tone control on my bass, they take a while to settle in but well worth the wait,
only thing is fitting the strings to acoustic bass is a nightmare as the strings have to be fitted inside of the body, i used small washers to fit on end of strings so they would,nt slip througth the holes for the strings as there is quite a lot of tension a that part of the bass, but overall the strings are amazing..
