I use this on my 10” firecracker effect snare drum. This head can be tuned very high where they produce a lot of overtones and long, ringing sound - at this stage this head is very responsive to moon gel or other kinds of muffling. I really love the sound this head makes and how versatile it is, but they wear out quickly (3-4 weeks)

Very good price-sound (quality) ratio. I'm using it on a small Millenium steel snare drum. It has a clear (matte) coating, so and this nice alu ring in the center of the head, so you don't need much additional dampening. Personally I don't like weird overtones, if you hate them too, this is the right snare head for you. It has a nice tuning range too, so you can use it for any kind of music. Just beat it, like Jackson said.

This head is ideally used for 10" snare drums and not your toms. The emperor X will actually sharpen the sound of the drum and not phatten it up, so if you want the snare to cut, this is the head to use, but go for the powerstroke 4 or powerstroke 77 if you want to remove the overtones of the drum. Quality head and will last you forever, but defiantly adds high end.

I got this to replace the stock head on the Millenium Steel 10" Snare. It sounds amazing, EVANS make incredible heads - the right amount of attack without being too powerful or ringing out too much. I use a piece of Moon Gel just to control it a bit. A great head!

Let me start by saying I am a guitarist who has been in several bands. I am not too experienced with drums, but I have heard a fair share of them, from expensive kits to regular cheap stuff. A year back I bought my 3 year old a drum kit as he seemed prone to drumming, and at some point the snare skin broke (yeah he punctured it with a toy), I had initially patched it and it was fine, but then the crack extended to the entire skin rendering the snare unplayable. I bought this Remo as replacement and all I have to say is "wow". Right out of the box the quality feels sooooo much better than the Millennium stock skin. What an amazing difference. These heads are great if you want to achieve a controlled warm sound, as they enhance the mid-low range frequencies of the drum. The inlay ring around the inside of the head is a definite pro as it controls the sustain of the head just the right amount letting it breath a bit which gives you a lot of control over the sound live as a sound engineer can add more reverb if needed whether u want that controlled damp sound or a larger sounds.
