Evans 18" EMAD2 Clear Bass Drum

After years of trying different skins for my bass drum, I looked no further than the Emad, had never let me down before and got a great boom out of my 22" kick. So after switching to a bop/jazz kit, the first thing I ordered was an Emad 2, I can assure you, it makes an 18" bass drum sound like a 22 inch. Gets compliments anywhere I go. Recommend 100%

Aquarian 18" Super Kick II Clear Bass

The sound is incredible, even without a mic. Great punchy sound very similar to the Evans EMAD skin, which i previously always used. The reason I've changed to the Super Kick II is the fact I've used a few live gigs with it fitted onto the kit. It always just feels better and gives a better response to the kick.

I have tried pretty much all the various bass drum 'systems' that are out there, and I am happy to use this on the batter side of the bass drum as it is. Other heads, such as evans emad system just takes too much energy out of the head, and makes it sound like the drum is full of blankets. This takes the right amount of ring out of the sound but leaves it lively, so there is still some top end in the mix. I think where too many drummers go wrong is they get their sound so it is right BEFORE they are playing to the band, then it sounds too dead. You want your drums to sound right WITH the band, and so it is the top overtones that help a bass drum to cut in the mix, and this drum head does it perfectly. Incidentally, for the best front head sound I actually cut about 1cm from around the...

Bought for my Tama Club Jam. Love it. Great warm tone. Perfect for jazzy lounge type settings with a solid (non-porthole reso). Playing more rocky / reggae material it is still punchy but needs to be use with a reso head that has a port hole. A great middle-ground solution between Ambassador and Emperor

Evans 18" EMAD Clear Bass Drum

I use this head on my Tama club jam, a kit that I bought for home practise. I replaced the stock head with this and it sounds amazing for a smaller kick. The sound is quite versatile, suiting rock, funk, pop and anything in between. The foam dampeners also allow you to customise how much dampening you want, which is great. I found the smaller dampener worked best as it didn't deaden the sound too much. Overall a fantastic head, definitely recommended!

Evans 18" EMAD Coated Bass Drum

Evans 18" EQ4 Calftone Bass Drum

Evans 18

After experimenting with a single ply head and not finding the sound I was looking for, I tried this EQ4 calftone drumhead with a single ply calftone as resonant head. The sound is amazing. Very open and still controlled. If you tune it higher you get this be-bop sound, without overtones or unwanted high tones. The bass drum sounds full, open and controlled. I strongly recommend the combination Calftone EQ4 (batter) and single ply (reso).

I replaced the factory heads of a Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz. I am satisfied with them, the drum has a clearer, more massive and nicer sound. The factory drumhead broke within a year. I just put on "Evans EQPC1 BassDrum Head Protection". I hope it will be good for a long time.

Evans BD18RONX 18" Onyx Resonant

Sleek and durable, its got a beautiful matte coated finish and is very durable. I've been cranking the drum head up and down for ages and its still as strong as when I got it. Delivers a solid dry punch if set around half a turn lower than the batter side. Highly recommended.

I bought this head for use with a small 18" kick drum. I was sceptical about possibility of having a big fat sound on 18" kick drum but this drum head made it possible especially when combined with unported resonant head. Just be sure to use a patch for a beater if you are a heavy hitter, it will prolong the life of drum head and also give a little bit of a defined beater punch.
