1. Module itself. Housing of this module made of 1,5-2 mm thick steel and it's very heavy. My previous Yamaha module was much lighter! I recommend separate stand or strong module holder. 2. Connection 2box drum module have 3 cymbal inputs suitable as well for single cable Yamaha e-cymbals (use only A inputs) as for Roland-type double cable e-cymbals (A and B inputs is necessery). But what input is for ride cymbal sound I've understood only in experimental way. Every other pad connection passed without problems. 3. Trigger settings Big problem with setup was HiHat calibration. I tried to calibrate HiHat by manual in the trig.setting. I did everything but my pad isn't work properly! This is an authentic sounding classic synth drum. A bit of a "One Trick Pony"? - perhaps? Don't get it if you use (or want to use) MIDI though! It's true analogue and has no MIDI function. It is possible to use the EH 8-Step Program to trigger it - that does have a MIDI input. Then you'll have to pay more than the Space Drum itself. Some people hate the sound of these things (They were rather over used in the '80's pop scene), but if you want the real classic vibe this delivers it. There is the added option of modulating the sound which is switchable, so you can have a more "Alien" sound if you choose, or switch this completely out. I was searching a Trigger to midi, via usb, interface for my drummer drumset, which we triggered. At first we've had lot of troubles getting the stuff to respond properly, we were getting lots of double hits and inconsistent velocity, but then I've studied the manual enough to understand every function of this interface and finally I've reached a satisfying setup, no more double hits and definitely a more precise response. Anyway the interface is not a ready to use piece, You have to study the manual and do lots of tests in order to set it properly. Hardware wise, besides the buttons, which are not the best (lots of twisting if not pushed in the center, still they don't produce a satisfying click) the interface is sturdy and the aluminum case feels well made. I bought the EC10m after watching the release video from Roland demonstrated by Heidi Joubert and was very impressed by what i saw. The question is would it live up to my expectations. I unboxed it and inside was the unit, a power supply and the specialised microphone. All that was required was to connect the mic up clip it onto the sound hole of the Cajon and connet the unit. The EC10m can be connected to an amp, a mixer or a PA system. It has many functions and acts as a pre amp and a sound generator. The hype is correct, the Mimic Pro is that good. First and foremost the sounds are amazing. I have owned Alesis, Roland and 2Box modules and the MP out performs all of them. The sample quality is fantastic. I use the module for practice and gigging with my band and it has been excellent in both environments. The interface is very good and the response of the touch screen is superb. Build quality is again top of the line. The unit is very well made and has a heavy duty and robust feel to it. Having looked at the obvious positives of the unit, there are some other points e-drummers need to think about. The MP is NOT a module for the beginner.
