After research and comparison with the Blackmagic Atem Mini series I decided to go with the Roland V-8HD. It doesn’t disappoint. Does exactly what is says on the tin. For such a complex and capable product, everything just works, mostly from the first slide of the on/off switch. Where settings do need adjusting the menus are easy to navigate using the knobs and buttons but are even easier to deal with on the remote-control App. During operation, the user interface is well laid out and very intuitive with knobs to change variables and push switches to select / confirm. This ease of use swayed me towards the Roland and, after a few hours use I’m convinced this was the right decision. Where space is tight, the built-in monitor is the icing on the cake – with the option of connecting a larger monitor should you prefer. The only thing missing is a USB output to simulate a webcam for streaming, solved with the addition of a Camlink. Happy user, happy to recommend.
