I am a teacher and performer of violin – standard classical as well as baroque performance practice. After some research I decided to order this snakewood baroque bow (it's 68 cm, and 55g, with natural horsehair, for those interested). I have small early baroque pernambuco bow with a clip frog from a Slovakian maker, however I felt I needed a longer baroque bow, and so I became interested in this Artino baroque bow. I love the historic concave shape, the effect it has on the sound, the colors, as well as the feel of holding it baroque style. I wanted something to bow my electric guitar strings, while full of reverb/delays, so I could dive more into drone/ambient in an organic way, compared to playing my synths. I am not that experienced with the approach, but this thing did what I was expecting it'd do. Adjustable tension, pretty solid build quality, I got what I was expecting. Don't have experience with expensive bows to see the difference, keep that in mind. Overall, it did its job for me, yet that was slightly different from what you may want it for.

I have always struggled on using traditional violin bows becouse of their unpractical way of changing the bow hair. And actually it requires a professional service which may cost more the actual bow. I found that P&H bows were the best of their kind based on their own patented re-hairing system, which is not only good because you can re-hair the bow yourself but it's also amazing the fact that you can do it within a minute, without having any issue. And also the build quality based on that price it's amazing. Literally there is not a single physical bend on the bow, the bow its totally straight from top to bottom and it's made by a durable material (fiberglass) which can't be effected by any weather condition. Pros: good sound rod is resistant to weather/warping ease of string crossing Cons: difficult to turn the screw Neutral: sound is different than with wood The bow is far more responsive than my previous best bow (Artino Special Edition) or my wooden bow (overly soft and crooked...) that was included in my violin set. It is noticeable that it is far more expensive than the other two - in sound (more vibrant compared to the mentioned Artino) and when playing fast: it's much easier to change strings with it. The sound it produces is not so deep/velvety as of the wooden one, but it is pleasant (for me at least :)). The sound is not squeaky or very thin. It is the first time that I use a carbon bow and I am really satified with this one! Before this one I had been using a cheap wood bow, and the difference is huge. I really like the sound it makes, it is very clear, and there seems to be no difference with much more expensive bows. I have been using it for about a month, and it is much easier for me now to play spiccato than my previous bow. Moreover, it feels like a premium product, it is very very beautiful and it looks great. The only drawback was its packaging. The bow came in the same box with a note stand, without protection inside it, and it could easily have broken during the shipment. I strongly recommend bying this bow! I am very happy with it!

I have this bow for 6 years at least, and I have to say that I'm quite happy with this purchase. It is super light compared to wooden bows, and it is enough for me to use it as my primary bow or a secondary one. The first hair that comes with it is not particularly good, and seems to be synthetic, but with a simple hair change it is all good. The only bad thing that I can think of is that I noticed a slight camber in the bow, after quite a while that it was sitting orbeing used with half the hair on it. So I can't really be sure that it is the material's fault or mine that I left it for long with half the hair,so long that it drew the bow to one side a little...

The bow seems to be well made and I cannot find any faults with it. It seems to be a bit on the heavy side compared to the Dopler D10 or the typical carbon bow, so I find that playing with the Stingl is more work and the bow is not lively in my hand. On the other hand it has more stability being heavier. I believe that the wood is a bit denser, and the sound is warm and solid, and it compares well with more expensive bows. For those who do not mind or prefer a heavier bow and like a warm clear full bodied sound, then this bow is ideal, especially for the price.

This is one of the best bows I have used - I had the pleasure of playing with Pete Clarke, the Scottish traditional player of the year .. He has had many TV appearances and recorded many top selling cd s. We swapped bows at the interval. At the end of the night he insisted on buying this bow off me there and then , as he thought it was great !! Now - This is a guy who played the composer - Nial Gow's, 200 year old fiddle for the BBC national trust documentary at Blair Athol castle in Scotland . If it's good enough for him it's good enough for YOU :-) I've just orderred a replacement !

I always seem to be using things for purposes they were not designed. I got this to use on guitar and as such I have no experience with bows. I can however say this was perfect for my needs and I'm happily using it to this day. It was far less costly than anything I could get locally and I was happy to 'take a chance' I could use it with guitar. I'm very happy with the sound so if anything should happen to my bow, I would immediately buy another. For my specific needs, this is great and very reasonably priced!
