The Fender 150L strings are designed to give vintage blues and rock tone, combined with modern manufacturing standards. The ball ends of the strings are colour coded. These are pure nickel strings. Fender designed them for use in the blues, jazz and classic rock genres, although anything goes and I certainly do not fit into any of those categories. I have been using 009 gauge strings since the 1970s and have previously also used Ernie Ball, Gibson and Rotosound in particular. The Fender 150L seem to suit me well and they have an uncovered third string. I play very lightly with a nylon plectrum half a millimetre wide at the tip. I have been converted to pure nickel strings since first trying them some years ago. The warm, vintage sound that pure nickel strings (not nickel coated) produce is amazing and it was a real revelation for me and I now use pure nickel strings in all my guitars The DR Pure Blues are absolutely great strings, one of the best sets of pure nickel strings that I have tried. I often use Fender's pure nickel strings as well, simply because they are cheaper, but the DR are just as good if not better. They last a considerable amount of time with casual use (I only play at home) and they retain their brightness for quite a while before becoming duller. I am new to these strings. I bought several similar brands for experimentation. This particular brand has a superb quality of tone and a very comfortable reduced tension feel. I have been playing for a long time and I can remember the tone-fullness and relaxed feeling of strings prior to the hex-core change-over. They will also be good for players with finger and wrist joint issues - perhaps you won't have to tune down! This also means they may not be perfectly suited to some modern-harder styles. These DR strings sound incredibly fresh, rich, warm and powerful and have made my guitar tone sound significantly better. Bends just soar and the strings vibrate beautifully. They also come with 3 special Xenon strings which apparently compliment the wound strings much better but I still haven't tried them yet. Still, the fact that they are included and also gold colored makes any electric guitar look cool. Previously I was using some higher-end Ernie Ball strings but they corroded pretty quickly, these DR strings have been sounding so fresh. Highly recommended!

A really good set of strings that sounds slightly brighter than the GHS, Ernie Ball and D’addario strings I used, actually so bright that I had to take a bit of treble and presence away, yet ended up with a clearer sound that cuts trough. They also sustain better, which is nice for those highest fret bends. No idea how long they will last, but probably as long as any other set around that pricerange, I do wipe them down after each session. Also nice with the slightly thicker EAD strings. Recommended for lead that wants to be brighter and cut through in standard E to D tuning.

I usually use ernie ball superslinky 9s on my guitars, but the awesome graphic on the pack draw my attention and when i read that they were nickel wounded instead of the nickel plated steel on the superslinkys, i was eager to give them a try!! They didn't disappoint at all!! They had really organic and warm sound perfect for soloing!! They also last really long and they are fresh out of the pack since they are air tight sealed like the superslinkys!! I'll definitely buy again and totally recommend them!!

These are a good set of strings. The bullet ends offer good sustain and tuning stability. They produce a nice rich and warm tone. Great for blues and jazz. These strings have a slightly longer playing life than the Nickel plated steel type. They have a slightly smoother feel opposed to the other coated string types. I use Fender's pure nickel wound and nickel plated steel on different guitars for different applications. I like to use the pure nickel wound mainly for my jazz style playing and tend to use the nickel plated steel for a lot of pop/rock style playing. I have tried a lot of different brands over the years and have to say Fender are my favourite. Cant go wrong with Fender strings!

I now have different pickups and with different pickups you have no other choice, like you have before, other than to once again scout for the best possible strings. As such my quest began. When I first bought my 2006 Epiphone Les Paul in the same year, it had mud buckers. The pickups Epiphone now offers are way better than what they used to and I have a “used to” kind of guitar -- -- that, truth be told, is also awesome. With the mud buckers, what you face is a muddy sound, which means that the undertones and overtones aren’t exactly distinct and difficult to hear as separate softer tones. These strings are a really nice set for Eb and E standard but will feel very floppy if used on C# like intended. I have no idea how Tony Iommi does it but if you’re not him or don’t suffer from a similar handicap don’t use these on C# tuning. I use 9-42 on D and C# and feel like the extra low string gauge causes a lot of buzz and general slack in similar tuning with these strings. In my opinion they are excellent strings for Eb as quick trills and vibrato is extremely easy. Total control in your playing with these strings. The tone is great and noticeably different from the Ernie Balls I used to use. I saw these by chance when browsing for new strings and the packaging was speaking to me. I put them on my Gibson SG and was absolutely amazed with the feel and most of all the way they sound! I used to have my favourite strings (Those with E,Ball since you asked) but I much prefer the La Bella Bender now! Sound is hard to describe, honestly you can't quantify it, but they sound clearer, punchier and more pronounced to my ears. Like the guitar is now opening up and shining through, where with other strings it was a bit dull and under a blanket. Anyway, these are my go-to strings now and I love them. Never had a string break on me either, very durable.
