Strings for my Brother

I ordered this for my older Brother who play bass since 1996, he plays a lot of gigs, and he asked me precisely this brand and type, because it last longer (3-4 times as he said) then any other bass strings.

Simply the best strings

You are never going to get a better set of stings. That is just how it is!

Lifeless

I had never tried stainlesss steel strings before and was excited to hear the super-bright tone this material promised. And at a bargain price!

After taking off a set of D'Addario EXL-170s which are nickel-wound strings, I was very disappointed to hear the Rotosounds were duller than the three-month-old D'Addarios. Not only that but the B-string sounded like complete mud in comparison. And these were brand new!

For what it's worth, this was on an Ibanez SR605, so you may experience different results with a different bass.

Great value for money

Nice bright sound and quite long lifetime. I use this set of fretless bass and it sounds great. After a long time of using flatwound strings now I feel that my bass is a new instrument. Maybe not important detail but the red string endings look cool.

Great ss strings

As stainless strings enthusiast I must admit that those are one of my favorites, but they have a major drawback - they don't last long.

Pros

- aggressive bright sound

- lots of zing when fresh

- vacuum packed

- silk wrapped at the end to protect the machine heads

Cons

- don't last long (after a single 40 minute gig they went almost completely dead, and I don't even sweat much)

- non tapered B (issue for some)

- a bit rough on the fingers

- unusual A string thickness (0.80)

Rotosound RS 665LD

Really good bright and hard hitting tone. Very good price and quality ratio. Long life and good bass sounds. Ideal for beginner and professional players also. Easy to tune and not tuned in during the playing.

Rotosound RS 665LD

Just love Roto strings. Love bright sound. Some people suggest they rip up frets and the brightness doesn't last. I don't agree with the ripping up of the frets. The brightness may not last quite as well as some strings, but the sound once they have settled is very good.

Classic rock strings - but be careful with Warwicks!

The Rotosound Strings are well known and often used rock strings that come for a very reasonable price. Fit and feel are solid nothing especially positive or negative here worth mentioning. With one exception - they won't fit your five string Warwick! the Problem is the two-piece Warwcik bridge which is designed for the Warwick strings which come with a tappered b-string. Altough some non-tappered b-strings fitted well (DR High Beam for example) the .130 b-string from Rotosound was just a little bit too thick. You might be able to fix this with a file but i rather used them on another bass and bought Warwick black Label strings for my Warwick again
