About Schecter

Founded : 1976

Schecter Guitar Research, commonly known as Schecter, is a respected manufacturer of electric guitars and basses. The company was founded in 1976 by David Schecter in Van Nuys, California.

Originally, Schecter started as a repair shop for vintage guitars, catering to musicians who sought to restore and maintain their beloved instruments. With a strong focus on quality and craftsmanship, Schecter quickly gained recognition for its meticulous attention to detail and expertise in guitar repair.

In the late 1970s, Schecter began producing its own line of custom guitars. These instruments appealed to a wide range of players, including professional musicians seeking high-quality alternatives to mainstream guitar brands. The company's reputation for excellent craftsmanship, combined with its ability to customize guitars to individual specifications, contributed to its growing popularity.

Schecter gained prominence in the 1980s by collaborating with influential musicians in the heavy metal and hard rock genres. Artists such as Pete Townshend, Mark Knopfler, and Yngwie Malmsteen were among the early adopters of Schecter guitars, which further solidified the brand's reputation for producing instruments capable of delivering exceptional performance and tone.

In the 1990s, Schecter expanded its product line to include more affordable models, allowing a wider range of musicians to access the quality and craftsmanship associated with the brand. Schecter also began incorporating modern design elements and innovations into its instruments, further appealing to players across different musical styles.

The early 2000s marked a significant turning point for Schecter. The company underwent a revitalization and rebranding process, shifting its focus towards producing high-quality production models at competitive price points. This strategic move led to a surge in popularity, and Schecter became a go-to choice for many guitarists seeking versatile and reliable instruments.

Schecter's product lineup encompasses a wide range of electric guitars and basses, including signature models designed in collaboration with renowned artists. The company offers diverse options, ranging from classic designs to modern styles, catering to various musical genres and playing preferences.

Today, Schecter continues to be a respected name in the guitar industry, known for its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and versatility. The company's guitars and basses are favored by players across different genres, from rock and metal to jazz and blues. With its roots in guitar repair and a dedication to producing high-quality instruments, Schecter has carved out a significant place in the market, earning the trust and admiration of musicians worldwide.

Some features got premium feel, yet it's a budget and basic 7 string guitar. Fretboard is straight and frets are big, just as i like it. Pretty snappy feel.

Pros: -Bridge pickup has really nice clarity, even when tuned down to G -Clean leads -Clean tones incredible, a nice surprise from the active pickups -Wenge fretboard feels great for smooth playing, no sharp fret ends - looks phenomenal, the matte black finish goes great with the yellow stripe Cons: - neck pickup sounds a little weak, not an issue due to bridge's clean leads -didnt come in...
