I bought this because I have a little obsession with ancient instruments. So this wild thing makes me wanna dance around the campfire while the big blue moon shining upon my face. In fact, the texture of a drum really reminds the moon. I like how much bass it has. Sometimes I wish it has less bass, but there are other drums for that. I cannot really think of any other cons than that. It's a really good drum. Perfectly combines with shakuhachi, didgeridoo, bells etc. If you wanna get wild, this is the thing.

Very pleased with this small frame drum. Used for playing solo and as part of percussion kit. Excellent addition to any kit and suitable to any style of music. Small and compact but has a big bright sound. Versatile and vegetarian! Would strongly recommend and at this price it is a steal.

this instrument provides a high quality sound that can be used in live situations & in studio. A frame drum for both professionals and beginners. (care needed for tuning the instrument, since the skin becomes loose or tight according to humidity)

I have never been disappointed by Meinl products and this little frame drum with its deep frame is just perfect. It’s tone is good, the size is handy for getting out and about and its tuneable too. On top of that it looks good with its deep brown frame and pale goat skin membrane. I’m very happy.

The meinl 16” Tar frame drum is an excellent instrument. The adjusters work perfectly for tuning and the tone with the synthetic head is excellent. Please be aware that it is a bit on the heavy side, so perhaps it isn’t suitable for everyone. Highly recommended

I opted for this over a pretuned drum, and I'm glad I did. Pretuned drums can lose their tone over time, but with the neatly concealed lugs this can be tuned and retuned to your preference. It has lovely deep bass, and the taks and tas are strong, resonant, and with plenty, but not too many, ringing overtones. The head has a rough textured feel allowing additional sounds to be made, like brushes on a snare. Overall, lovely drum.

Albeit a former drummer, I have zero experience with traditional drums and I only bought this as a gift for my older sister who is an Irish music afficionado. Suffice it to say she fell in love with it, and it seems to do the trick for beginners to the instrument or the genre, at least. Some personal research on my end prior to the purchase of this instrument, furthermore, revealed that there are few other choices in the way of a mid-range Bodrhan, so I guess this might work for intermediate players too! Works perfectly with beaters that you can find on this website. My sister is very satisfied this latest addition to her instrument collection!

We bought this to be used in humid and cold conditions as it has the synthetic head. The sound is not as good as with a real goat skin but still very good. If for any reason you can't or prefer not to use a real goat skin drum I recommend getting this.

I like the 20" a lot better. Didn't like the sound in comparison to the bigger ones, quality wise! (I know it doesn't and shouldn't sound as deep/low), but that aside. Not a nice tone to it, and the one I tried didn't had a stable tone neither. The bigger ones are better!
