I'm not a huge pickup aficionado, but I knew I wanted something loud and punchy, and this is very loud and very punchy. I've had no problems with it in the several years I've owned it, and I've dropped it into a few different guitars and it's never come up short. Currently have it in my semi-acoustic, and the tone is brilliant. My favourite feature is that it is incredibly quiet when not playing: no feedback, no hum, nothing. My least favourite thing about it is that even with the volume rolled back all the way, there is still some slight noise when the strings are hit. This could just be dodgy wiring on my end.

The Gibson Gibson P-498T CC is a Bridge pick up best suited to the rockier genre, after receiving them I opened them up to find a sturdy well built pick up, they fitted nicely into my Epiphone Firebird without any hassle at all, after plugging in and turning up all I can say is that I was amazed, there was such a huge leap in tone definition and presence, i sounded like a completely new guitar worth twice the price! If you have an old guitar you love but doesn't provide the sound you now demand, these are the pick ups for you, they provide a instant 'gibsonesk' sound for a fraction of the price of buying a new guitar, they sound fantastic with clean, distortion and crunch sound but iv even pushed them and used them for metal and more hardcore songs, Buy them now!

Got this and 57 plus as an upgrade for my Epi LP. Not very experienced with PAF-style pickups myself, but I can definitely say it gives out a great sound. Plenty of smooth, yet surprisingly bright (when required) tone on tap. I usually like to play around with the volume pots to get different tones out of the guitar, and this pickup offers something special on every setting: lovely cleans and drive sound, does a great job at picking up the dynamics in my playing. My favorite is a bit of gain for that "on the edge of breakup" sound, it really sparkles with character. One single complaint .. When installed on my LP, it wouldn't quite sit centred in the pickup cavity. The guy who installed it said it was due to the pickup mounts (the little handles beneath it). It might also be...

I bought the burstbucker pro pickups to replace the cheap chinese fitted copies on the cheap chinese copy guitar i purchased. The sound was instantly awesome as soon as they were fitted, they have a great rock tone and superb clean tone and now my cheap chinese copy guitar sounds as good as My Gibson Les Paul Studio that ive had since new in 1992. i love the tone and play both rhythm and lead guitar parts and it works so welll for both. I run through a Marshall JCM900 head and 1960 cabs and these pick ups have been everything i wanted tonally, not too hot but still sounding heavy when driven and giving that classic Gibson tone to a non gibson guitar. I cant fault them, they are awesome.

I’ve played an Epiphone Dot Studio (an ES style guitar) for about 8 years now. It was my first guitar and I genuinely believe it’s worth more than what I got it for in most regards save for one very important aspect: The pickups. In short, they were awful. I got this for the bridge with a Seymour Duncan in the neck to make the guitar sound as good as it feels so that when I perform, the audience will hear my instrument the same way that I experience it; as a simply fantastic guitar. With the 57 Classic Plus, I think that my Dot finally sounds as good as it can be. It doesn’t perfectly emulate a Les Paul like I was going for, but perhaps even more valuably it sounds entirely unique. This pickup was an instant improvement to the stock epiphone alinco pickup I previously had installed in the bridge of my eppy custom,the pickup I noticed sounds instantly bright for a humbucker, I feel that there is a much better bass response in this pickup as previously the stock pickup could sound quite muddy at times when handeling lower frequencies, this pickup sounds great when handeling a higher gain setting which you probably wouldnt use an ordinary classic 57 for but with the extra coils its top notch, but what else would you expect from a Gibson product?

After some extensive research, I bought this for my Epiphone Firebird 1963 Reissue and I couldn't be happier! Despite liking the stock pickup, I replaced it because it didn't have that bite that my Gibson guitars have. I usually play a Les Paul Traditional Pro with a stock BurstBucker 3 (Alnico 2) and have two SG's both with stock 490Ts (also Alnico 2) that have served as a comparison for sound. This Mini-humbucker just matched their tone and had approximately the same output as the 490T. I didn't want a standard Firebird pickup since they have tonal qualities that would be closer to a hot-rodded single coil and that wasn't going to be suitable for the music I mostly play. Installed in a Japanese Les Paul (neck position), the pickup has that typical Gibson bluesy/jazzy warmth as hoped for, and with a nice top end. Plenty of output, I set the height lower to balance with a 498T in the bridge. I have a 90's Gibson LP studio and compared the two neck sounds - very similar with just a little more top end clarity on the new pickup. The 4 conductor wiring with a push pull pot switches to single coil for chords or picked stuff, or even just for reducing level while keeping the clarity - you could do series/parallel or out of phase too if you like. I installed a cover, (49mm pole spacing) , which was easy and still has the output and treble. To summarise, a great juicy vintage sounding neck pickup with all the wiring options, thanks.

As usual with Seymour Duncan first class build quality so nothing more need be said on that. I needed a little more attack on a G&L Fallout in the bridge position, I could have gone for a straight Humbucker replacement but thought another P90 might be nice. So I went for the P90 Blade configuration out of interest really and loved it. The P90 is exactly what you would expect but with a just little more drive and the blade though not a Stat or Tele sound, gives a great light clean funk sound. This is a very versatile pickup easy to fit and adjust, not for out and out rockers I think, but a great allrounder

After buying a hand-built cabronita from a French builder, I became so enamored with the sound of its single bridge pickup I decided to build my own one. Ordered this puppy for my build and couldn't love it more. Workmanship is excellent, sound is bright and clear and very responsive to dynamics. It holds the middle ground between a traditional (tele) single coil and a humbucker, and boy does it shine, either for the quiet/sensitive solo stuff or for playing in my (very loud) surf punk band -- you will not get lost in the mix with this one. Pros: super quality and sound. Cons: are you kidding me?
