Shure Incorporated is an American audio products manufacturer. Founded in 1925 by Sidney N. Shure in Chicago, Illinois, the company started as a supplier of radio parts kits and soon became one of the leading manufacturers of microphones and audio electronics.
In the 1930s, Shure began producing their own microphones, and by the 1940s, they had become a leader in the industry. They developed the first practical ribbon microphone in 1940, and the first unidirectional dynamic microphone in 1949.
In the 1950s, Shure released the Unidyne III, the world’s first single-element unidirectional microphone, which became the industry standard for decades. They also released the SM57 and SM58, which are still widely used today.
In the 1960s, Shure developed the first wireless microphone system, and in the 1970s, they released the first automatic mixer.
In the 1980s, Shure released the first digital wireless microphone system, and in the 1990s, they released the first digital signal processor.
Today, Shure is a leading manufacturer of microphones, headphones, wireless systems, and audio electronics. They are known for their quality products and innovation, and their products are used by musicians, broadcasters, and audio professionals around the world.
