About Sonor

Founded : 1875

Sonor is a prominent manufacturer of drums, percussion instruments, and accessories with a rich history that spans over 145 years. The company was founded in 1875 by Johannes Link in Weienfels, Germany.

Initially, Sonor focused on producing military drums, marching drums, and orchestral percussion instruments. With an emphasis on craftsmanship and quality, Sonor quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional instruments and became a trusted name among musicians and orchestras.

In the early 20th century, Sonor expanded its product range to include drum sets for jazz and popular music. The company's drums gained popularity among drummers due to their innovative designs, superior sound, and durability. Sonor's commitment to innovation was evident in its introduction of new drum shell materials, such as beech and birch, which contributed to the unique tones and projection of their drums.

In the 1960s, Sonor made significant strides by embracing the emerging rock and roll scene. The company introduced drum sets that catered to the needs of rock drummers, offering increased volume, projection, and durability. This move propelled Sonor's drums into the hands of renowned drummers like Ringo Starr of The Beatles and Phil Collins of Genesis, solidifying the brand's presence in the international music scene.

Throughout the years, Sonor continued to innovate and refine its drum designs. In the 1980s, the company introduced the Signature series, collaborating with legendary drummers such as Steve Smith and Phil Rudd to create instruments that matched their specific playing styles and preferences. These collaborations further enhanced Sonor's reputation for producing top-tier drums favored by professionals.

Sonor's commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail have remained unwavering. The company utilizes state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, combining modern technology with traditional handcraftsmanship, to produce drums of exceptional quality.

In addition to drum sets, Sonor also produces a wide range of percussion instruments, including xylophones, glockenspiels, and orchestral percussion. These instruments have become a staple in schools, orchestras, and music education programs worldwide.

Today, Sonor continues to be at the forefront of drum manufacturing, offering a diverse range of drum sets, snare drums, hardware, and percussion instruments. The company's products are renowned for their precision, sound quality, and durability. Sonor's commitment to innovation and their rich legacy have earned them a place among the top drum manufacturers in the world, trusted by professional drummers and percussionists globally.

I bought it as a backup a couple of years ago and have been very pleased. I would recommend getting this triangle over the smaller ones if you are teaching students older than 3rd grade. If not, save you cash and get the "Junior" type - I've been using these working with kids.

Great fit for 80s Performer white wrap drum set. If you cut a hole in the head make sure to place the ring from inside for better aesthetics.

I use this around my ankle (by removing the skin) during gigs which gives it a lot of wear and tear. I needed to reinforce the bolts with epoxy which strengthened it. Works like a charm now!

This is an excellent drum kit. I needed something with a slightly smaller footprint and a bit lighter in weight and this done the job perfectly. The 18â kick sounds like a 22â. My band couldnât believe it. And the maple wood is nice and light. Not to mention it looks fantastic on stage! Top marks!
