Founded : 1976
Spector is a manufacturer of music instruments that was founded in 1976 by Stuart Spector and Ned Steinberger. The company began as a small custom shop in Brooklyn, New York, and quickly grew to become one of the most respected names in the music instrument industry.
Spector's first bass was the NS-1, which was designed by Ned Steinberger and released in 1979. The NS-1 quickly became a favorite among bassists and was used by a number of notable musicians, including Sting, John Entwistle, and Geddy Lee.
In the 1980s, Spector began to expand its product line to include guitars, and in 1987 they released the Spector NS-2, which was the first bass to feature a neck-through design. This bass quickly became a favorite among bassists and was used by a number of notable musicians, including Flea, Les Claypool, and Billy Sheehan.
In the 1990s, Spector continued to innovate and released the NS-4 bass, which featured a unique body shape and a revolutionary tone control system. This bass was used by a number of notable musicians, including John Paul Jones, John Taylor, and Justin Chancellor.
Today, Spector continues to produce high-quality instruments, and their basses are still some of the most sought-after instruments in the music industry.
