Rupert Neve Designs RNHP

I bought this amp as an upgrade to the amp section of RME ADI-2 DAC. While this section is good for All in One unit, I did not expect to be shocked after adding the RNHP to the chain. If you are a spec believer, well that's fine, but that's not the case here. Forget about numbers and watts. These are just numbers. We are talking for proper drive, effortless sound, complete instrument separation with wider space, punch, rich and vivid midrange. I am using TIDAL connected to Audirvana Player with a MacBook Pro. USB cable from Audioquest. XLR cables are pro line of Bespeco. Headphones cables are stock. My headphones are: Sennheiser HD650: I have a tube OTL headphone amp for this pair and its super addictive but I preferred it with the RNHP and it drove it to the full potential easy. Not...
SPL 2Control black

I have this hooked up from my Metric Halo LIO-8, going out to my PSI A25s, Avantone MixCubes and two pairs of headphones. Soundwise, it's very transparent on the monitors, but does unfortunately add a bit of noise on the headphone outputs, causing me to deduct one point each for Handling and Quality. As I use the (phenomenal) headphone output on the LIO-8 for my main phones, this doesn't bother me too much, and the additional pairs are only used for quick reference purposes, so it's not a deal breaker for me. My Avantone MixCubes have a slight humming issue (quite common, unfortunately) which the ground lift feature doesn't eliminate, but again, it's not a deal breaker and can't really be blamed on the 2Control. The 2Control features and overall build quality are excellent. I can't...
Mackie HM-800

Excellent for being an 8-channgel amplifier. Lots of power and can easily drive high-ohm headphones. I've been using it for cable-bound in-ear amplification to multiple musicians and you never run out of amplification power with this one. There are better sounding headphone amps (to compare: the HM-800 is better than a Focusrite 18i20 headphone amp, but worse than RME UFX headphone amp), but when 8-channels are required it is a solid choice. (Tested using Shure 215/535 in-ears, and MX-50s + Beyerdynamic DT-800 600 Ohms headphones).

Audio quality is good but i have some cons: 1. my unit had the MAIN LEVEL knob defective, it was distortioning the sound when adjusting the level, but a replacement is on it's way. 2. all the level knobs are STEPPED KNOBS, so you can adjust the level in steps. i don't know why they engineered it like that, because it's pretty hard to adjust your levels. one step could be too low, and the next step could be clipping, and you don't have any "middle option" 3. the knobs are wiggly. As for the build quality the unit is very heavy and solid. It has 4 scews on the bottom, it will scratch your table/other equipment that's under it.

This is a perfect match for the most advanced headphone, the HD800, You ask why ? I'll Explain: this is the hp with biggest sound-stage in the market. And this amplifier making it even bigger. It make the sound as balanced as possible. The impact is very punchy and clean. The features (cf, center, balance is great edition), Can be used for balanced headphones. The power of this creature, is endless: Yo can gain the rca inputs, you can gain the output. +12, +22 and +24 DB... The specs are world record, and you defentely can hear it. The sound is silky , but when there is problems in mastering, you can immediately notice them. I know about SPL, is a very good brand. Now I know even more. Will check another products for sure!

The key of my purchase of this headphone amp is to use it for referencing my mix as well as recording. I use this with my Beyer DT 880/990 pro and so far it has been an excellent experience. The VU meter gives me a very good visualisation of the dynamic of the song and I am able to use this to compare. The sound of the amp is quite flat (not very coloured) and is sensitive to the type of headphone and source you play. I run through it directly from my computer D/A analogue out as well as my iphone with RCA, it produces quite a different sounds (my iphone all of the sudden become a high end hi-fi equipment!!!). The feature of having different speaker angles/center compensation are good to have but it only represents very subtle change by playing around them, I personally don't find them a...
Rolls HA 43 Pro
Based on 1 reviews
As most people are aware, Rolls Royce is a marque synonymous with quality, whilst this product doesn't quite live up to it's namesake, the build quality is excellent with the all important bit included, 'Made In The USA'. I have only had this unit for a couple of weeks but thus far I have had no issues of concern, the 20 db of gain is especially useful in a live recording environment. For those in the market for a no nonsense, quality headphone amp, which isn't too 'fiddly', the Rolls HA 43 Pro ticks all the boxes.

Got this as an upgrade from the built in headphone amp on my Apollo Twin X. For me the improvement is quite clear, however I have also tested with a producer friend of mine who struggled to hear a difference, with his own and my headphones. Possibly the difference is less noticeable due to its lower than average impedance for studio headphones on the MM-500s. For me, I can head a clear improvement in transient response across all frequencies, but a great improvement in clarity of the hi mids to high frequencies. I was instantly able to hear problem frequencies in these regions quicker when mixing. In terms of the crossfeed functions, theyâre not bad, itâs nice to have it as an option, especially since itâs analog and latency free. Compared to gHz CanOpener, Iâd probably pick that,...
Lake People G103-S MKII

Solid piece of equipment, no frills, just does the job exactly as it should, plenty power and clean sound. This is my third amp from Lake People, and they've all been great. One small feature which I would have liked to see, they have a feature in some of their more high-end offerings which is a relay that shuts off connection to headphones when powering the unit on and off, which avoids discharges into them. It sounds like a pop and crackle and isn't very pleasant. Other than that, no complaints.
Cranborne Audio N22H

In my circumstances this device has made a big difference to the clarity of my headphones and so the enjoyment of producing / mixing. It is more fun now I can hear better what I am doing. I was using my 38ohm headphones out of the interface outputs (Steinberg UR816C) and had felt for some time something was off, even using Realphones (speaker sim) plugin the base sound was poor quality, but I did not feel it was the headphones at fault. It turns out that the headphone output of the UR816C is either 40 or 90 Ohms depending on the source you read. Let's take the minimum of 40 and to get reasonable sound your headphones should be 320ohms! This is the rule of 8, for headphones. So this is a huge mismatch trying to drive my phones when the Ohms are so close in rating. It produces a cloaking...
