Squier CV 70s Tele CSTM MN 3TS

So deceptive

It's my second Squier guitar ordered in the past 3 years. While I was happily surprise by the 1st one, an Affinity Strat HSS with a flame veneer this Classic Vibe Tele custom was very deceptive.

First: it's the worst fret end guitar since I tried a Bullet Strat. Fret sprout are starting around the 5th fret and going worst and worst toward the higher frets.

Second: the way the 3 piece wood body was arranged is a very weird to me. Although it's expected to see 3 parts through the sunburst finish I didn't expected to see a kind of bad quilt located next to the bridge. Half the guitar is covered by the pickguard but they choose to let this imperfection in the visible area.

Third: the pickups are not sounding good to me. The neck humbucker is so muddy that you have to roll down the volume to 7 and the bridge sounds thin and the treble are very harsh. In this price range it's kind of expected but bear in mind that if you want to swap the pickup you'll need to find a pick-guard accepting a regular size humbucker instead of this wide-range think.

I guess with Squier it could be a hit or miss depending on each guitar. But comparing with a Strat Affinity at 260 buck with this Tele at 380 I would say it doesn't deserve the extra money.

So in conclusion I may give a try to an Harley Benton Tele and surely swap the pickups for better one. In the end it will be the same price as this squier tele custom.
