Needed work

I already owned a squier thinline telecaster which was excellent out of the box so I had no hesitation in ordering the 40th anniversary strat. This was not excellent out of the box. All the string saddles were screwed back as far as they could go so intonation was way out I also noticed that the six screws holding the tremolo were not fully screwed in. The saddles were also at maximum height. After these issues were attended to there was an awful buzzing around the first few frets, adjustment of the truss rod fixed this. The guitar was also heavier than I expected about 8lb 4ozs. However the quality of the guitar was excellent the neck being top drawer and overall appearance excellent. So you may be lucky or end up paying for a set up

Amazing sound, small kinks here and there

I'll start off by saying this guitar sounds incredible, even with the stock "designed by Fender" pickups. After a proper set-up (not that the factory one was bad, but not it wasn't great either), it had no problem sounding close to what an American Fender sounds like.

That aside, the price point is showing in other things such as somewhat cheap feeling tuning pegs, cheaper wiring, nut not being perfectly cut, etc.

Even with the mentioned kinks, the guitar makes up for them with its tremendous sound, very comfortable neck, and being a great platform for mods as well.

Bravo, Squier!

Later EDIT:

After playing it more, the quality issues start to show up more, such as my input jack plate coming off because the screw had no wood to stick to, which in turn made me notice how a few screws from the pickguard were also spinning in the air because the wood didn't hold them in place.

One final grievance is a few frets towards the body that slowly seem to be coming out of their slot.

Great Stratocaster, but beware of lemons

I was pleasantly surprised by the pickups, the neck (apart from a rather scratchy fingerboard), frets and the overall playing feel, but will be returning the guitar for a replacement because of some finish checking near the neck pocket. Should’ve been pickuped up in QC. Hopefully the replacement is better

This guitar plays and sound like a dream!

This 40th anniversary edition is a fantastic guitar that excels in every aspect. Its comfortable neck, stunning aesthetics, quality hardware, especially the tuners, and its exceptional sound make it an incredible value for any guitarist. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, this guitar will not disappoint. I can't recommend it enough - it's simply a joy to play and a true gem in the world of electric guitars.

A great Strat!

Had a US strat for many years and then some mexican and a Japanese.

I guess its all about finding what works for you, but for me this has a lot of mojo. Its light and doesnt feel too stiff.

Plays as well as most of the mexican strats.

The pickups are great, a bit less edgy than some other strats and the bridge pickup is mellow and really useable. Surprisingly great with heavy distortion and fuzz.

I hate blingy and shiny hardware and polish so this matte finish and aged metal is just perfect.

Neck is a very standard C, and is super comfortable to play.

Overall highly recommended.
