Bought this for my 6 year old as a first "real" instrument. The good: * solidly built with good craftsmanship * the finish is of good quality * frets don't stick out * action is reasonable * provided strings are very low tension and an average child should have no problems fretting the strings * notes are in tune ;-) The bad: * the sound quality is not great * the sound board is pretty thick, giving it a bit of a muffled sound (but of course makes it stronger, more resistant to children) * tuners are fine, but a bit difficult to tune, not sure why (strings?) Given the price, would probably not recommend as a very first instrument for a small child. Rather for a child that has some experience with a previous instrument and shows real interest in learning to play. It looks and...

What can anyone expect for this amount of money? Based upon the example I received, I can tell you that you can expect quite a bit. Dots on the fretboard to help guide little beginners would be nice as well as better tuners but to be perfectly honest, it is hardly believable that is even remotely as good as it actually is. There are toy guitars that cost more than this. I know because I bought one.....

It's a nicely built little guitar. I use it for camping trips and as a stove away guitar on road trips. Sound is ok. Nothing for someone with large fingers. Perfect for kids.
