I've had this piccolo now for 2 1/3 years and must say it served its purpose well as a beginner model and further up the grades. I played it nearly 2 - 3 hours virtually every single day since I bought it. By the way, did you know the piccolo flute (in general) is easier to play than the transverse flute and even the recorder. It also requires much less embroucher-breath control than the transverse flute. And far as finger technique-dexterity ability is needed, it outclasses both the transverse flute and the recorder. Compared to the recorder the side-way outlay of the key work of the piccolo is much easier and faster to learn than the straight up-down tone holes of the recorder. 'The piccolo flute is hard to learn' is most probably a culturally-traditional conditioned myth. Just as...

I've had this piccolo for a year now. At first I couldn't a sound below the low f. I tried a few more times, still without result. So I gave the piccolo to a female friend as a "present". After nearly a year she gave it back to me, having had it never played. This time I tried again and, hey presto, I could a decent sound below the low f. So what happened in the year in between ? I decided to buy a Yamaha YPC -32 beginner model and practiced about two hours a day virtually every day. So what did I learn from this ? If you're complete beginner or returner after many years, I recommend to buy a beginner model to avoid many wasted hours of frustation, or giving up completely. And, secondly, wait for at least 9 to 12 month before you step-up. Finally, thirdly, put this piccolo on...

I bought this piccolo as a flute doubler. I needed a piccolo that would be suitable for playing indoors and outdoors in all different sorts of weather conditions. I researched piccolos for a long while, and then decided this was the best option for me. When it arrived I was blown away with the sound quality, the responsiveness, the tuning quality and when I played it with my marching band I was so impressed. Having made the switch from just playing flute to playing piccolo as well, I was expecting it to be difficult at first, but I had no problems at all with getting a sound. The top B and C are still a little bit difficult to play, however, this is just me needing to tighten my embouchure a little more. Overall, I am so impressed with this piccolo and would recommend it highly.
