Though I play 20+ years, I 'm not much of a guitar collector. This is my fourth guitar, fifth, If you count a bass. First with 8-strings coming from a 7string. What can I say, it plays like a dream. The fretboard is the easiest I've ever played, which I did not expect. You can really shred on it! The fact that one can blend the two Lundgren pickups is surprisingly useful and I do it all the time for rhythm guitar! Only problem: the finish is very sensitive. Almost the slightest hit may harm the black finish, so be careful!

This is my second Schecter 8 string. The build quality is very nice. Great feeling neck, nice fretwork, beautiful finish. I bought this guitar primarily for its coil split feature. I love the split sound and the fact that you can control each pickup with its own volume. Being able to set the pickup levels independently allows for alot of tonal variety. When using the bridge humbucker for more heavy sounds, I need to use an overdrive pedal to tighten up the low notes. For stock pickups, they are quite usable. The guitar is supposed to come with Ernie Ball 9-80 strings. They felt a little tight for my tired old fingers so I changed them to a set of 9-80 that I have on hand. Much Better! Meshuggah made me seek out an affordable 8 string in the mid tier department. I hoped the schecter 8 demon would be just that, and have not been disappointed. Featuring active pickups, I was a little worried that the sound would be too distorted or without dynamics. Surprisingly, with an (exclusively digital) effect chain including a tsb-1 boost pedal, the sound is pretty good. I'm still working on the tone but it is fun and rewarding. Looking at the guitar, it's just gorgeous. The black satin finish with the yellow outlines and the cross inlays... I like to just look at it. The neck is comfortable and after some adaption it makes the... girth... manageable. If you're used to 6 strings, this will be interesting. Setup wise, you will have to fix intonation, across the board the thicker...

In short, it's a very well built instrument and has some features that show Ibanez's attention to detail. There's also a pretty glaring omission, but I'll come back to that later on. I'll start with the good: * great neck, very well done frets; very comfortable * the 8th string tuning peg is a bit larger, so it can accomodate heavier gauge strings * truss rod adjustment wheel at the base of the neck (where it meets the body); much easier to adjust and to reach * mono-rail bridge, really comfortable for the right hand when muting * great pickups, clear and defined sound; the factory wiring is also a plus: 5 way switch, with the standard 3 full humbucker positions (bridge, neck&bridge, neck), a neck wired in parallel position and a split coil position which selects the inner coils...

This guitar became my third eight-string guitar. I bought it as an experiment to install sintoms 4.3 frets and I wanted to feel the multiscale. The workmanship is very decent, no worse than analogues from schecter and ibanez, the price of which exceeds the price of this guitar. I live in Kazakhstan, in a region with a temperature difference from -15 to +35 and with a large difference in humidity. I want to note that in such unfavorable conditions, the guitar neck behaves very stably and after the first tuning, I did not touch the truss rod. The guitar workshop was able to rebuild the instrument to a height of 1 millimeter above 12 on the first string and 2.1 on the eighth string. Fanfret 8 string neck through for this ridiculous price is absolute win! Guitar came set up pretty well, low action, almost no fret buzz. Quality build and paint is on point (remember, sub 400€ price) , the impression it gives easily compares with +1500€ instruments. Electronics are basic, but sound is in your signal chain, not pickups ;) locking tuners are also welcomed, tuning stability is very good even if you're heavy handed. The only mishap there is finish of the frets, not a big problem if you're handy with your tools, but some edges stick out, can scratch softer hands, also top of the frets was rough, you could really feel strings scratching during bends. I got this guitar as a test to see if 8 strings multiscales are 'my thing'. I immediately fell in love with it as it is quite comfortable and the sound is not bad at all. I only have one complain about it. To this day, in June 2020, it is still listed with an Amaranth fretboard. Please not that this is NOT the case. I got mine with maple fretboard and black dot inlays. I actually like it more like this and that's why I would not ask for a return. But keep it in mind if you are really a fan of Amaranth. :) Moreover, you have probable seen some online reviews about these models where a 'muddy' tone form the pickups is mentioned. I don't know if the problem has been fixed but mine sound alright with clean tones. Totally usable even at high levels.

I?m working on a prog metal project for a friend and having read a few reviews of the Harley Benton R-458BK 8 string fanfret I decided to give one a go. So, to the unboxing. This guitar had travelled over 750 miles and straight out of the box it was almost in tune which was a remarkable thing in itself. The body was VERY shined and free of dents, blemishes and scratches. The finish on the back of the neck is very good too. As others have pointed out the fingerboard was bone dry but a couple of coats of oil and it?s all OK now.
