Built like a tank!

I had been eyeing up this desk for sometime, and I am so glad I bought it! Upon delivery it took me and my partner some time to get it up and around the corner staircase, but it was well worth it! Building the desk was very easy, philips head screws and allen bolts hold it together very well. The wood is heavy and feels much better quality than any other flat pack desk I've ever put together. Having all of the rack space is essential for my home studio and the large main desk area is big enough to fit my Digi 003, Mackie Big Knob and MIDI Keyboard also, with room to spare for coffee and biscuits!

This producer station is great for our newly refurbished recording studio!

Solid Workstation

Have had the desk for 4 years and has moved between several studios/houses in the process. Great features and workspace with plenty of rack space. Only criticism is that after 3 times of being dismantled/reassembled with the moves, the threads are starting to wear and not sure if it will survive another move.

Great value studio desk

This desk is made from good quality components and is easily put together if you follow the instructions. Two of us had it assembled in less than half an hour. It looks great when built and is very solid. The metal parts are smoothly finished with no rough edges to induce injury. There is more than enough space for rack gear unless you are a little crazy for rack gear! You can keep your cables reasonably tidy. I would have liked the top shelf to be wider to accomodate twin lcd monitors and nearfields and still see through the studio window but it is what it is and I am happy to sit at it day after day with everything within easy reach. There are cheaper units outh there but not sure if they are near the quality of this and you could spend thousands on the top line ones but I saved my cash and bought other equipment. Overall very impressed and I can recommend if you are looking for a value for money studio station. Delivery was quick and hassle free.

Desk for life!

I bought mine in 2006, it's been through 3 house moves and is still going strong. Built like a tank with absolutely oodles of rack space and 2 handy pull out shelves. The metal rear has hundreds of holes drilled into it - very handy for mounting things with cable ties such as power supplies, plugboards, you name it.

There are 2 improvements that could be made. The small metal towers on the left and right for holding optical media are all but useless these days. If you remove them however, there's a protruding bump where the threaded insert to accept an m4 bolt sits, meaning you can't put anything flat there without it wobbling.

Otherwise, I can't recommend it enough. I adore mine, and people are always asking where I got it from.

Very good!

It's very good to have as a ground for a producer or a self recording artist. I'm very satisfied with it, and I will probably never buy another desk for my music productions. The weight, is maybe a little to heavy. And it was very hard to put together for one person when you use only a common screwdriver for the screws. If you buy this you should use an electric screwdriver. But it can be made with a common screwdriver too.

Why good and not very good, a few problems exist...

This desk is built very well, it is very solid and can house stacks of equipment.

It is excellent value for money, I doubt you could find something of this size cheaper.

However,

The rack holding bolts are non standard, they are fix turned holes, there is no give at all with these when mounting equipment.

Some equipment will not line up with say all 4 screw holes, so you have to use 2 out of 4 to secure the item.

( The mounting parts of all the racks need to be remade to the standard cage nut holding design )

The small upper rack fitting on the desk accommodates 5 and a half U, not 6U, although you can use the extra half U space has a vent space for say an amp etc.

The desk's upper shelf sits rather high, you need to sit on a stool to line up your eyes with a monitor on the shelf, you cannot put your legs under then because of the keyboard shelf.

(I have had to remove the keyboard shelf to sit at this comfortably with a medium height stool, I place the keyboard and mouse on the main desk platform, the monitor and speakers on the upper shelf.)

If modified like I did, this desk is very good, the build quality is excellent and the casters are brilliant, as moving it in and out over the years for equipment change has been made very easy.

The weight of my gear is quite heavy, it is fully loaded with equipment and is built solid enough to take it all on-board.

It remains excellent value for money for the features and space it offers, I have found a great way of working with this desk and I love it.

Excellent quality , good value

I'm using this workstation for a home music project. I had read some of the product reviews and was a bit worried about the quality of the item notable the strength of the wheels and the lineup of the holes for the rackmount screws.

I need not have worried. It arrived EXTREMELY well packed ( weighs a ton ! ) and appears to be excellent quality and a good finish. All the necessary sets of screws / bolts were individually packed and numbered. The instructions were very clear and total assembly took about 40 minutes.

I have loaded some of the equipment into the racks and (so far) there appears to be no problem moving the unit on my carpeted floor. It's also quite east to access the inputs on the back of the equipment once installed in the racks.

I researched other suppliers before buying and many were at least twice the price!

I would certainly recommend this product.

Value for money.

This desk is great. I did how ever end up taking the top shelf part off and using it as storage elsewhere in the studio. But for the money i paid, i really can't complain. The size is right for everything I use it for. The table top (without shelf) is large enough for me to do guitar/bass setups on comfortably before sessions. Theres enough space to have 2 27" screens on the table top also along with monitors.

My only wish is that in future revisions of the desk, that the metal sides and back are dampened with something so that they don't resonate when listening to music at loud volumes.

Apart from that, smashing piece of desk.

Best home studio desk out there!

I have been using this desk for more than a year now and I couldn't be happier! I am mainly a keyboard player and this desk is full of rack mount synths and effects and I still have space left. I could easily rest my Korg Triton Extreme 88 on top of the main shelf, 2 sets of studio monitors, a 27' LG monitor, a huge Armor Jr. PC tower case many more. The total amount of weight on that desk so far might be more than 100 Kg and I can still move it around with no problems what so ever. It has never given me the impression that it is not top quality material or of very solid construction. The only downside that someone might find is it's size but this is the reason I got it in the first place. Definitely recommended for anyone that wants to invest in a proper home studio desk.

Great Value

The RTA Producer workstation is a big heavy and very good value for money studios workstation. It is very heavy and is well packed for delivery. Tons of rack space, great sized work surfaces and practicality for lots of different kit. I added 3 x 4U and 1 x 2U Thon lockable rack drawers to mine, which gives excellent storage for cables, mics etc.

The sliding keyboard and laptop shelves are sturdy and smooth. Cable management is made easy with various rubber grommets, cutouts and a rear tray. Heavy duty wheels with the two front wheels able to be locked to prevent it moving around when you don't want it to. It has 16 spaces for CD storage but personally I won't use these.

The only disappointing thing I have found is that the rackmount screw holes didn't perfectly line up with the mounting holes on the drawers and rack gear I have when trying to install them without gaps between. They had to be fitted with gaps between each piece of gear and I found the gaps are not evenly spaced, some gaps are bigger than others. This problem has been mentioned in several reviews and I think the manufacturer needs to consider altering the design to correct this. It would perfect a great bit of kit if they fix this issue, though it's not so bad that I am unhappy overall.

For the cost of this you will struggle, as I did, to find anything else that even comes close to the design, quality and features it offers. It is robust, functional and looks great in my home studio. I'm very happy with the product and would highly recommend this over a cheap and flimsy, or really overpriced and expensive workstation. I knocked one star off because of the problem with the rack mounts not lining up without gaps but I would still highly recommend the product. I'm sure it will give me years of service!

19? Rack mount is too tight.

This desk is of very good build and quality, the workspace is large and setup is excellent. There is just one problem:

The 19? rack mount is spaced to tight.

After mounting 3 1U components the holes for the next component, on top or below, do not align.

There is always a little wiggle room on the components, but if the top one is adjusted to the top, the middle centered, and the bottom to the bottom, the next set of components will not fit. Same problem if you mount a 2U or 3U component.

My desk might be a one of a kind, but I doubt that. It seems as they have allowed for too little space in-between units.

Studio RTA Producer Station

I have had my Producer Station for 8 years now and by and large it has been a good servant. The only complaint that I have consistently had is that the holes in the rack system don't line up with the equipment that I buy. I just wish that the manufacturer had paid more attention to this as it can mean that you can't use all of the rack. That is 14 units. The reason that I have written this today is that I have just tried once again to move some units in the rack and I have had to give up due to losing a unit space. It's too late for me but perhaps this could be updated for any new purchaser!

Great table for studio use!

I am a home hobbyist music producer and have gathered quite a lot of music gear over the years and my old table started to be a little crowded. So I had been eyeing this table for quite some time before deciding to order it. And am I glad that I did (not when carrying it inside my house tho, it weighted a lot, says something about the quality as well). This table is sturdy and greatly thought out. There are enough rack units, so I can house drawers for my other stuff as well other than my music equipment. This is a great all around table for me!

Absolutely brilliant!

This desk is one of the best studio desks especially if you're on a budget. It's solid, sturdy and has a huge amount of space for your equipment and work. Took about half an hour to assemble, as it is very heavy, but in no time I was up and running. It comes with rack mount screws too so you don't need to buy them separately. 5 stars and a huge thumbs up!

Great workstation

I was looking for a workstation to help with more effective access to all my equipment. The StudioRTA Producer Station not only provides this but also includes a very effective cable management system.

The product arrived very promptly in two large parcels. On immediate opening it is clear that this is a high quality product. It did take a while to construct the workstation, All in all around 3 hours to build and put into place. The build instructions are pretty clear.

The workstation is well thought out. The main desktop length is comfortable enough to accommodate am 88-note keyboard/controller. The in built cable management tray and sockets help to keep mess and trailing cables to a minimum.

A sturdy build when constructed. The only negative comment being the that the "speak/monitor" shelf isn't quite wide enough to accommodate 2 x monitors and 2 x speakers, and the shelf is a little high.

Overall a great product.
