As a beginner on the bass clarinet and having bought a relatively cheap instrument, I found it difficult to set the reed in a consistent position so I decided to buy a new ligature. I now have no difficulty in setting the reed every time, however I find it difficult to convince myself that the ligature can produce the benefits claimed by the manufacturers, maybe as I gain experience I will change my mind on this. This ligature produced a 100% improvement on the supplied metal version so I have to rate it highly and would recommend it to any beginner.

Played my stock ligature initially. Moved to this on my Yamaha 5C and it made it so much more punchy if that's a word, air delivered better and a much better sound. Fantastic improvement for a low price, highly recommend. It really improved the sound, if you're going for a new mouthpiece I'd recommend this first before taking the plunge in to the world of mouthpieces, it really affects your sound for the better.

I've tried various ligatures for bass clarinet and this is the one I prefer. Sound is big, dark and powerful with no dull spots in the upper register (like with other ligatures). Only one disadvantage is that lacquer finish wears pretty quickly, but it has no side effect on the sound. Highly recommended.

I use it on Tenor Sax and like it a lot. The great thing is it doesn't muffle the sound as some other well known fabric ligatures do and sounds as clear and bright as a metal lig...also the cap fits really snugly..a perfect fit for my vintage Berg Larsen...highly recommended!

I use this Ligature for a Otto Link ST 7 and am fully satisfied with the tone and feedback. However i have to Mention that it is a verry fragile whitch makes me question the quality of it. It further leaves visible scratches on the metal mouthpiece. Btw, the appearance of this Ligature is a definite winner..

I find people who blabber about the wood tone of an electric guitar, or even worse, the tone of a ligature to be pretentious fool, who wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a double blind test. I bought it in order to have one screw to tighten, not two. Mission accomplished !

What more could one ask for? Went through quite a few ligs to find one that fit my WT mouthpiece. This was it. Fitting slim bari like a boss. Reed held firmly and securely in place. Both synthetics and normals, not that they differ meaningfully. Personally I have never been able to hear differences in sound from ligs, but single screw design and elegant look makes it a winner in my book.

Read my review of the soprano XL GD. Same applies here. I used this for Selmer Super Session J and the mouthpiece came ALIVE! Minus 1stars for estimated durability but not function. If you are not careless in taking care of your stuff, you should have not problem with the build quality.

Vandoren Optimum Ligature Baritone G

I purchased this ligature to go with my Vandoren Optimum Bari Sax BL5 mouthpiece. I have not been disappointed once with the ligature. One wonders however, what Vandoren is doing providing such an inferior cap. Already after quite a short time, the cap gets sticky and gross, picking up anything that it comes in contact with (such as lint) as it starts to disintegrate.

It's excellent as a ligature. It doesn't stand in the way of the reed. You'll get the best out of the potential of your reed brand. This ligature holds the reed firm on the mouthpiece and is easy and quick to use. It's short of 5stars due to its build (brass) quality which makes it a bit fragile but this malleability also makes it fit the mouthpiece very well. If this one breaks, I'll buy the same as a replacement because it delivers excellently in function as a ligature.
