Very flexible boost

I have three boost pedals, and this is the most flexible of the three. With Gain, Level, Treble and Bass controls, together with a trio of tone curves (boost mids, lows, or highs) there seems to be a lot of control in a fairly simple control setup.

Since a boost simply raises the signal level, a lot of what it does comes from the subsequent effects and amplifier, and with over 20db extra gain, this can be quite a lot of change. I've especially enjoyed the way it pushes a valve amplifier into varying degrees of saturation - it was possible to get a sweet spot for solos with just a little experimentation. It did the same for an Xotic SL Drive Red, a MojoMojo, and other distortion pedals, basically adding extra sonic flexibility to all of them.

So, it's a curious pedal in that it has no "sound" of its own, but like a good compressor, it can do something fundamental to the sound coming from your instrument that makes you want to carry on playing, simply because there is a "lift" to your basic sound - it's a little fuller, more consistent, seems smoother, etc. I tend to use a compressor for the basic sound, and this boost is used to push up the sgnal level for solos, where I get a subtly different sound from either the distortion pedals along the chain or from the amp at the end - for which this pedal exists, in my opinion!

If you have a basic sound that you have worked on and like, this is a useful option to push that sound up a notch for the moments when you need that, without disturbing the basic character of your tone.

Awesome boost pedal

This pedal can be used in a few different ways. You can put it in front of your amp and use it either as a clean boost or a tube screamer. It has a switch that allows you to choose fat , clean or mid boost and you can adjust the gain, volume, bass and treble. I use it in my effects loop set clean but dial all knobs to 12 o'clock and it pushes the preamp of my valve amp and adds gain for a nice boost for lead breaks without muddying the sound. I think it's the best all round boost pedal I have ever used and as with most TC electronics products it's well built and great value for money.

Whoa! A very useful tool

I was looking for something to go at the end of my pedals, for when I wanted a bit more of a volume boost. I wasn't initially looking to affect the tone at all, and considered the smaller, stripped down one of these.

However, the extra tonal switches and knobs piqued my curiousity and I ordered this one.

It sounds really good, and does a lot of things. You can use it as an overdrive, absolutely - and there was a time this would have been exactly the sound I was looking for.

I use it now as a ridiculous dose of clean boost for certain parts, and it works wonderfully for that. The tonal varieties are useful here too, more than I expected. The bass, treble and mid shift frequencies and curves are just right to my ear.

The one downside is that it is bigger than I thought, something about the shape and size takes up more real estate than I would like. That has a lot to do with my specific old pedalboard which has its quirks with its size. So its not really a bad point, but something to look out for.

Excellent Booster and Tone Shaper

This booster can be used in a variety of ways whether for acoustic guitars on different pickups (Magnetic piezo, UST, etc.) and also for electric guitars (Single coil, P90, humbuckers, etc) because you can fatten or have the boost sound just neutral. A good complement to a compressor pedal or an EQ pedal.

This pedal can do anything. From Clean boost to med gain overdrive.

The 3-position toggle switch gives great amount of capabilities, with clean boost, a mid hump position (not as big boost in the mids as a TS style pedal) and fat position with bigger bottom end.

Bass and Treble knobs work really nice along the spectrum and they have a notch at noon position that makes the pots feel like stop which i like.

Last but not least the pedal has great response, and feels very sensitive under the fingers, the same you can find in much pricier ODs.

Amazing little pedal

A boost....I would never think this type of pedal could be such a winner.

Had the intention of buying soon a new amp but thanks to this magnificent pedal I will save a bit more for a monster amp since this little box of joy makes my amp sound like a true beast for a most affordable price. And it is just a solid state!

As soon as you plug it in, straight out of the box, the magic starts. The nobs for gain, treble, bass and boost level easily twist the sound to new heights and the little switch in between them is also is a nice quick way of getting to your sound under fat/clean/mid positions.

Was doubtful between this or the mini booster also from TC but decided on this due to the extra nobs just in case. Could not be happier with the choice, the sustain is just complete madness, I love it!

A true winner pedal, and for almost next to nothing

You will not regret having one of these boosters.
