Boss VE-1
Based on 3 reviews
I have been using this for a few weeks now but I must admit only in a limited way. I need reverb more than anything else and this is a quick and easy way to achieve that. There are a few reasons why I went for this unit over the others available and the main reason is it's ability to work directly off batteries. One less power supply needed. Also if I use it with my battery powered jack of all trades PA speaker in future I won't need a 3 mile extension power reel back to my house! The reverb seems clean and the parameter to adjust is easy to implement via the rotary control. Like I said I have not delved into the deeper capabilities and I have not connected it to a computer yet so I may amend this review at a later date when and if any issues come up. Batteries seem to last a decent...
Boss VE-5 RD Vocal Performer
Based on 1 reviews
This vocal performer is ready to be used, plug and play as well as you can program user settings. Can be used for vocals, as well as any acoustic instrument such as latin percussions, guitar, wind instruments, string instruments. Or, you can actually get an adapter XLR 3 pin male to Jack 6,3mm and plug your instrument and get creative. Features = User friendly, plug and play ready, and still having options to personalise/program different user settings. I love how easy is to save "favourite", you just press A, B, or C for a few seconds and it's saved. Quality = Good quality but still plastic housing, have the feeling that if it would fall down it can really break in pieces, not sure, but certainly not as sturdy as a metal housing would be but still good quality plastic. Sound =...
TC-Helicon Mic Mechanic 2
Based on 9 reviews
I play and sing main vocal and believe you me if you are in a cover band - hard and r&r for 2 hours - non stop, having to belch you guts out in front of a bunch of back-yelling m*f*rs, you would appreciate the Mechanic! Does what much chubbier and complex tech does, with one very important difference - you hook it up, adjust the mixer preamp, according to the room and you're good to go! More 'verb? = 2 secs (just to bend down and touch the dial) - does bring some value, at least in my book. Since I got it, I can now talk normal on the day after the show. Just get it! The only con: power! Haven't tried it with batteries yet and don't plan to, but baring in mind that it requires more than 500 mAmps, you need to plan that in your pedal board! I use a dedicated PSU for it and have no...
TC-Helicon Perform-VG
Based on 6 reviews
I bought this mainly for its harmony feature, however it's really an amazing unit. It has plenty of connections and options which is handy and it mounts directly on the mic stand (it's designed to sit on the table as well if you prefer that). Pros: - Packed with features - Size - Ease of use - Amazing video manual on YouTube (playlist of short video tutorials explaining the features) Cons: - Lack of written manual in the box I would recommend getting the foot switch (I bought with 3, but there is a 6 model) because it really allows to utilise the full power of the unit (e.g. switching between different harmonies mid song). Initially I was a bit disappointed that I can't mute the guitar input when using it for harmony because I want to record just the voice and harmony, but not the...
Boss VE-20 Vocal Performer
Based on 22 reviews
When I first bought this I was interested in the harmoniser. As a Sax/Flute player I had lots of ideas in my head which I thought could be realised by the Boss VE-20. Ok it's for singers but woodwind players use mikes as well and the basic idea is the same. The octave generates a pretty good Bari sax and the diatonic thirds, fifths etc work well. Most of the presets are useful and the looper is good quality. This is one of the few devices on the market that work without having to plug in a guitar or keyboard to enable the harmonies and the fx are good. Boss are excellent at making good solid equipment that works well. If it has a downside it is the wealth of choice. I think most people would be happy with less presets and simpler programming.
TC-Helicon VoiceLive Play
Based on 25 reviews
I got this for the singer in one of my electronic bands. Sound engineers were rarely blending her voice into the mix right (she was tending to sit on top of the mix instead of sitting back into it), so I bought this to apply my own effects to her voice, control freak that I am. For that, it works superbly. It's easy and logical to program, is sturdy and has a big bright screen so you can see where you are. The quality of the fx is excellent for live use (I don't use it for proper recording, although for rough and ready demos it does the job ok). I have one niggle. You have no real control over EQ or compression, just broad presets that are either on or off. In practice, it's not a huge issue so long as you have a sound engineer who knows how to use EQ to notch out feedback frequencies,...
TC-Helicon Perform-VE

USE - I was looking at this and the Roland VT4 to do some vocals in the style of Aphex Twin - Funny Little Man and Mouse On Mars. So for this very specific use case the Perform-VE is PERFECT. There are a lot of features and it takes a little time to get used to the workflow. But once you do its surprisingly great quality. FEATURES - I was torn between this and the VT4. I don't want to bash any product but I have a VT3 that does not behave as advertised (I have a youtube video demonstrating the VT3 'forgetting' its settings under youtube name mckenic) so I decided to get my first TC-Helicon hardware instead of going with the VT-4. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone considering one of these to watch the David Hilderman videos on Youtube. He gives a wonderful overview and a clear and concise...
TC-Helicon Talkbox Synth
Based on 4 reviews
This pedal is great for recreating classic golden throat talkbox sounds without the tube, for myself I just wanted that classic Haitian Divorce sound, it does this great, the other vocoder sounds emulate styles like ELO and Zapp band. The other synth sounds are also very usable, autotune works well for me Build quality very good. I used a Gibson Les Paul Trad, put the talkbox as 1st on pedal boad chain into a Marshall JCM 30 the o/p from the talkbox into a Behringer 1200 PA, Mic was a shure sm58

This little unit does a great job of providing several nice harmony selections and the mix lets you blend them nicely into whatever volume level you are playing. I did find that the mic input was not a strong connection with any of my mic cables and has often disconnected itself during performance when I step on the pedal to activate the harmony, which immediately dropped the vocals from the PA. A Deadly disconnect. I now take extra precaution when stepping on the pedal and checking where the input cable is located when setting up.

This pedal is something spectacular. What you can get from this little box at this price range it like it's free. I got it as a present for a band mate, he absolutely fell in love with it instantaneously. The results you can get from this little thing are unbelievable. The vocals can easily sound like a professionally produced vocals and the crazy thing is that you do it on the fly and can do it LIVE. The vocalist will do it on the fly not the sound guy operating the front of house. You won't be relying on anyone else to make you sound amazing. This pedal is very versatile, you will achieve amazing results both live and in the studio. Live, you will be able to make you're choruses sound massive with the thick option or even the group option. Or your verses nice and cute with the octave...
