Line6 Helix Rack Guitar Processor
Based on 7 reviews
I've used many different amp and effect setups over a playing career of several decades, Although I've used other modelling gear extensively such as a Vetta II and a few Pods, etc. but never been 100% happy with them. First and foremost, the Helix sounds great! The wide range of amps, cabs and effect models not only sound good in their own right, but are generally very accurate to their inspirations. Also, playing response is much improved over things like the Pod series. and when monitored appropriately response and "feel" are nigh on perfect. Updates and continued development are good too - When I first started considering getting the Helix there were a few things missing from my personal shopping list of models and effects, but by the time I decided to go for it, updates...
Tech 21 SansAmp Fly Rig 5 v2
Based on 5 reviews
The Tech 21 Fly Rig 5 v2 is an amazing is an amazing piece of gear. I used it connected to the guitar amp, the PA and the effect loop return of the guitar amp, and always got reliable a nice sound. My favorite is the choice of connection to the PA in the small venues I play. Kept my amp at home and got the sound I was expecting once you set the parameters in the Fly Rig. It weights nothing (compared to the amp), and to me was very useful and reliable. Before considering the tone is not good, read the instructions !
Tech 21 SansAmp FlyRigPL1 Paul Landers

I love PL1 Fly Rig! Ive got also Line6 Helix, but PL1 is much better in direct solutions (PA/speakers/headphones). Helix sounds good, but its really hard to get sound wich works perfect in home and in the band context (for ex. ive got 5 clones of this same presets, each one with totally another eq freqs)... with PL1 this all diffuculties just gone! It sounds perfect with this same settings and it doesnt matter that you are plugged in mixer, PA or headphones! Zero latency and cool ambient knob - this things make me fell like im playing real tube amplifier! It's impossible to get same result with Helix or high quality VSTs. Now im playing in the band only with guitar, cable, PL1... and thats it! My band mates absolutely love my current guitar sound. With PL1 buying i made best decision...
Quilter Phantom Block Pre Amp/Cab Sim
Based on 4 reviews
I have 3 big body, magnetic p'up guitars I gig with. This little blue box certainly "brings out" very happy nuances from them all, for me, a new and sweet sound, not loud or aggressive, but happy. Mainly, this blue box is a preamp/di, needed for the "sound guys hereabouts". I live in France, doing many genre of music. With a French lady singer, classic French music, I do solo anglaise pop, rock, etc. I gig with an English r&r band, sometimes only for free beer & a feed when finished, sometimes for good €. I use this blue box on batteries, as quick setup/tare down are important for mid evening changeover, a big thing here in France. quilter is a new name to me, but am glad I got this thing, no massive big changes in my big aulde guitar sounds, but it...
Synergy Friedman BE-DLX
Based on 3 reviews
Headline should actually say sounds like bunch of kickass amps! As a disclaimer I need to mention I own and use Marshall SLs, JMPs, JCM 800s, Fender Supersonic, EVH mk3 just to cover the spectrum from AC/DC AY, Alice in Chains, NIN, Sabbath to Stoner or QOSA. The BE DLX does the job for most just as or almost as good and some tempted to say better. It take all various types of boost, gain and distortion/fizz pedals exceptionally well. I fired this bad boy up and was able to immediately dial in a good sound. The controls, EQ and toggle switches are very effective are straight forward and PO provide all the flexibility Of a need to get rockin'. I was quite sceptical but now the BE-DLX has become the center piece of my spund setup.
Synergy SYN-2 Preamp
Based on 2 reviews
I have an Axe-Fx II and I was really enjoyed playing on it , but when I received this Synergy Syn2 preamp, everything changed. lol Can u imagine a Di signal but with a lot tube saturation? It sounds really greater than the Axe-Fx II , the tubes are REAL! It has tight mid, smooth treble , and punchy low, u wont regret to own one! Even the default DI cab sims are not bad too! Also Synergy has a lot of options of the Preamp module such as Morgan AC / Friedman BE/HBE/DS / Diezel VH4 blah blah blah, just choose what amp u want and bam! U have two amplifiers inside a 1U rack unit ! P.S. Im currently using this SYN-2 as my preamp , and Axe FX II as my effect FX loop , with my own IR Cab.
Synergy TW/DLX
Based on 2 reviews
such a great idea. all valve twin channel modules. add this to the syn 30 Head and you have 3 channels. easy to sap the modules. add in a syn2 and another module say the Diezel vh4, and you have a 5 tube, 4 channel all valve preamp. the T/DLX offers really nice cleans on the blue channel reminding me of a Fender twin with a nice country twang, with the red channel giving the overdriven dirt combo sound. Adjust the 2 switches for even more tonal variation. love min, and looking forward to adding more to the rig
Friedman IR-D Preamp
Based on 2 reviews
The IR-D is basically Friedman's twin sister in a small pedal, at least its pre-amp. The twin-sister itself consists of two dirty shirly channels. The two channels are identical in terms of settings and how they sound. So you can set up one channel as a clean/crunch and the other channel as a rhythm/lead channel, for example and then switch between the two. I was really surprised how versatile each channel is. The S-switch (gain structure) of each channel has three positions, basically giving you three different amps sound-wise. It goes from low gain, which sounds like a JTM45, over normal Plexi up to boosted Plexi on the highest gain setting. The bright switch fattens up a strat sound in down position and boosts the uppper mids in up position for modern humbucker sounds. All the...
Synergy Friedman BE-BB
Based on 2 reviews
I bought this on the strength of what I heard about the BB (Buxom Betty) side, for clean tones, figuring that the BE (Brown Eye) side would be a "bonus" that at least I would not dislike. The other one I'm using is the Deliverance (like another reviewer here). The BB side is a very sweet and warm clean channel. It's nice in itself and takes pedals well. The only star I take off here is that it doesn't get crunchy at maximum gain - more of a bluesy, tweedy kind of breakup. That's not a huge deal either and admittedly I did not buy it for that. I am only looking for reasons to knock one star off because it's not "mind blowing" (just "very good"). The BE side is also very good. It's moderate/high gain - if you want more of a modern metal tone you can get...
Vox AC30 Sound Guitar Headphone
Based on 1 reviews
If you are looking for a no frills headphone preamp then this is the one for you. The built-in headphones are the big plus in this product. They provide very good sound quality. Plus, life is so much easier when the headphones are actually part of the amp, and no bluetooth, rechargeable battery or pairing a set of headphones slows you done (compared to the Fender Mustang Mini headphones amp for example, which is nice, but in my view requires too much effort to just plug and play). As for the sound the amp produces, it's ok. Lower your expectations here, you won't get a tube amp sound from this 100 euros piece. But it does what it should do quite good. Build quality could be better. The set feels rather cheaply made, simple and cheap plastic. I wish they would spend a bit more here....
