Vic Firth 5B American Hickory Value Pack

Based on 12 reviews
Vic firth quality, a legendary stick and an affordable price. Matched in weight, quality finish. For me they sit perfectly in the hand. If you play 5b sticks you wont miss with these. Quality wood that doesnt chip even with hard rimshots, if you have a tendency to miss toms and hit the rims or you have some weird metalic percussion the head of the stick can chip, and in that case I would recommend the nylon tip version of this stick. For work on the pratice pad I might consider a pair of 2b sticks, but for actual playing of drums this is top notch!!

I bought these sticks for my son as a Christmas gift, he's a drummer by profession. He told me that he would be ordering these again because he was very pleased. The thing that impressed me the most was the help I received when ordering. The ones I originally wanted were backordered- so the salesgirl put me on hold to locate another salesperson who is a drummer,he recommended a different pair that turned out to be perfect. So, not only would my son recommend these particular sticks, I am so pleased with the help I received while ordering! Thank you
Pro Mark RBH595AW 5B Rebound Hickory

I'm a bit weird when it comes to sticks. I love 5B's, but like really light sticks. So these are the perfect compromise. They are heavy enough that they are more than suitable for heavier genres, but also not so heavy that you can't be gentle with them. Thanks to them being slightly more back heavy, I can hold the stick a little further back and get a little more reach without extending quite as far. It's a very small difference, but you really feel it. As for durability, I play very hard rimshots constantly, and it takes quite a while before the stick starts getting chewed up in the middle. In the 2 or more years I've been using these, I've rarely had a stick break. I would also recommend people try both this version of the stick and the pair with the teardrop tip. After using both...
Tama 5BRZ RedZone Oak Sticks

Based on 2 reviews
I've always been curious about Tamas oak sticks and I'm so glad I tried them. These sticks are amazing. The power of the rebound is ridiculous! The bounceback is so strong it makes playing fast and powerfully extremely easy compared to normal sticks. Actually the rebound is so strong you have to adjust how you do buzz rolls but if you learn to control it, you can do longer and better buzz rolls as a result. These are also the only sticks where I've felt single handed rolls might actually be viable Supposedly they last a lot longer than normal sticks too but I'm playing on an e kit so I wouldn't know But on an e kit or practice pad These are the best I've ever used
Vic Firth 5B American Classic Barrel Tip

Based on 2 reviews
These sticks are great for a full and fat sound on the kit and hi hats, and you don’t have to hit hard to get that full sound, and considering they are 5B they have a light balanced feel, they aren’t overly heavy. With all that said, you don’t lose clarity on the cymbals, as the barrel tip helps for a pronounced ride cymbal sound, which most bigger 5B don’t give you. So these will suit heavy and light playing situations, they are very well rounded. I haven’t found any real downside to the sticks, and they last a decent amount of time, considering I practice on the kit for a minimum of 2 hours of consistent playing, and maybe another hour on the pad, I’m roughly getting a month out of a pair before I see a decrease in quality.
Meinl 5B Hybrid Hickory

Based on 1 reviews
I've been searching for my 'perfect' drumstick for a long time now. I've tried all sorts of sizes (and mostly used Promarks), but usually floated around 5Bs - having recently purchased Meinl cymbals I decided to give their drumsticks a go... And I was completely blown away. The weight matching, the feel in your hands - the best way I could describe it is that they feel like drumsticks. Not to mention that they are very durable too. I'm a pretty heavy hitter and predominantly play metal, yet this singular pair of sticks has lasted me since the end of May/early June till now. Grab a pair now! You won't regret it 😁
Pro Mark PW5BW 5B Classic Attack Oak

Based on 1 reviews
These oak 5Bs are my default setting. If I'm playing drums, 95% of the time these sticks are in my hand. Compared to standard hickory 5Bs they are a little heavier, but what I really like is how much harder and stiffer they are than hickory or maple. I find oak much more durable in the rimshot area (I'm a big guy playing rock and hitting hard) and the cross stick sound is better to my ear too. The best way I can describe the difference is that if hickory is springy and soft, oak is rigid and hard. I like that. Aside from the difference in material and weight, these are the same as a standard 5B. Fills up the hand nicely and doesn't feel easy to break. If you like a stick with a lot of rebound, these probably aren't for you. But if you play hard, or you want to try something different,...
Vic Firth 5B American Classic Hickory

Really great sticks. I stick to mainly these now. Not too light, not too heavy. I love the teardrop-shaped tips as they are a little bit longer than the usual round tip. That allows greater variation of sound when hitting cymbals as You can hit them with the end of the tip to create a sharper sound or (the best way in my opinion) hit them flat with the whole side of the tip to create a warmer tone. It's easy to play silently as well as loudly with force, kind of a hybrid if You ask me. Good if the music You play is dynamic.
Vic Firth 5B Nova Hickory Wood Tip

Based on 18 reviews
Nova, as far as I've understood, is sold cheaper due to them not making the absolutely final cut when it comes to weight/balance and stuff up to Vic Firth's standards. This was the 2nd pair of drumsticks I ever bought. Unfortunately at the time, I was looking for 5A and bought some bigger sticks than intended since I didn't know much about sizes. That being said, I don't regret buying them, because I did end up using them on various songs and I really loved them. As far as being a Nova, you don't really feel the difference without years and years of experience. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't feel too much of a difference now, it's a great stick for starting out and it is really durable. Had mine for over a year now and they still are not worn out. That being said, those are not the...
Pro Mark R5BAG 5B Rebound Active Grip

Based on 4 reviews
I initially got these sticks primarily for their colour, not knowing about the active grip technology back then. What I eventually got was a wonderful pair of drumsticks. Pros: 1. The ActiveGrip: with prolonged playing and sweaty hands, I found that the sticks did not slip out of hands. The ActiveGrip technology actually works. 2. Thickness: I have bigger-than-usual hands, hence I usually go for thick 5B sticks. These sticks are not the thickest 5Bs out there, but, combined with ActiveGrip, I found the handling & playing quite smooth and the thickness very comfortable. 3. Tip: the acorn shape gives a good sound on the drums with a nice-sounding punch and attack. 4. Colour: maybe it does not matter to you, but the black-with-golden-yellow colour looks eye-catching. 5. Price: despite...
