All's well that high ends well

Had a few gigs where the monitors sounded muffled and had to listen hard for the vocals no matter how loud they were. So I bought this for myself and at last I can hear every word. The good mids and highs means I don't have to have it all that loud in order to hear the singer and my keyboards clearly. The bass is good too but that isn't important to me when using it as a stage monitor.

Then I bought another one and, with long leads for outside use I connect them to the L/R outputs of an audio interface for the laptop and use them as stereo speakers.

Lovely.

Girlfriend doesn't think it's a good idea having them either side of the television in the living room though.

Great little monitor for vocals

Very easy to maneuver. Nice and light weight, and side handles are very well placed to carry and not strain on your back.

I was hoping it would be loud enough to plug straight in and amplify my vocals to then use the link out to the desk, when standing in for bands that only have a single monitor output desk. However, it does need a pre-amp from a monitor aux out to get the full volume out of it.

I'd also recommend putting a low and high pass filter on the monitor, to get the best level volume out of it. Without cutting the highs, it can squeal, when getting close to peak volume.

All in all, best bang for buck for weight and power, if you're sending the feed from an aux out of the desk.

If you're looking for something with volume and power that you can plug straight into, I'd recommend getting something like the Behringer f1320d instead.

We recommend it

We are satisfied and use it in church productions.

It's light weight and easy to move anywhere.

Great monitor AND a front of house speaker!

I bought two of these to use as floor monitors but i also used them as a pair of FOH in a small gig. they are perfectly capable of covering you for both! They look great on both floors and on speaker stands. The sound is perfect and loud enough for the size that you're looking at.

Yes there is a little constant hiss when the volume it turned high as other comments have mentioned but i can totally live with that and it is completely negligible once the music starts.

Nice small wedge

Good clarity and volume. Nice looking on stage. Easy no-frills interface.

Only negative is a bit of a hiss. I would expect that on a class D... but the horn is powered by a class AB amp, so shouldn't be as bad... its not noticeable unless you are in a quiet studio, so not a big deal.

Quality at a fair price.

Need a light, loud and portable powered monitor? I chose this wedge on specs alone and I'm glad I did - it works perfectly for my band and I'll be ordering another one soon. No eq on this one, but no problem for us.

Great for the price

Used on stage for backup singers and speakers.

Can put plenty of volume through these and they still sound good. If I wouldn't have anything else available, I would for FOH temporarily, but I find they lack the clarity of higher end/more expensive speakers, but those are not in the same category, so this would not be a fair comparison.

When taking them out of the box, I was surprised at how light they are compared to what i was expecting, not that there's nothing wrong with that - and when you often have to move gear around, your back thanks you. These don't have any handles, so at first they may feel a little odd when lifting them up. This is not a negative, just something to be aware of.

If i needed more foldback/monitor speakers, I would buy these again.

Excellent Monitor

Got this as a compact monitor for general purpose use. Concerts, wedding bands, musicals, very flexible.

The sound might be a bit bright for some, but in the context that I use it, the boost in the high-mid range is perfect for cutting through band noise clutter, and for a show, you can keep enough gain on it so that it won't interfere with multiple head sets.

Handling is a little awkward but well worth the trouble. Highly recommended.

Little brother

holds up reasonably well against the A12 - adequate for vocal / keys monitoring. Doesn't have enough frequency range in reality for a FOH application.

Finish a tad abrasive - great for carrying, fine for stacking when storing and brilliant on filing nails but not so great for walls / cars / table tops etc.
