If you're after a marching snare this is the one for you. It is extremely light and thus I would give it an A++ for portability. It is ideal for long marching hours. Obviously do not expect the same sound from a heavier good quality snare drum. Nevertheless the sound is very good. Since we bought this snare drum, my son didn't use his other very good quality (but heavier) snare drum any more. Highly recommended

a very good snare drum. The quality is very good as is expected of sonor drums. The knee rest is also very comfortable. The sound produced is very good without many overtones. With the muffler on it lacks in projection but if the muffler is removed the sound is dry and sharp.

After some tuning and tape I got the sound I was looking for. It's pretty heavy and not very ergonomic. I would NOT recommend this for long marches or concerts! I use it in the studio for short recordings, extra layering, so it's perfectly fine for these short periods. The sound is okay for me for simple things but it's not really very professional.
