I love this mute. Firstly, it's very light and easy to blow air through. It wasn't a struggle to get used to it. The sound is slightly on the bright side. The tone is a modern touch to the classic bubble mute sound. You can adjust the stem to get a "fixed wah position" to your liking. With them stem out it just sounds great. It responds evenly to every note in regards the tone. Blowing the higher and the lower notes with this mute might need some adjusting. I've been using it semi-regularly for over three years now and the cork is still fine.
Soulo Mute Trumpet Harmon-Style Mute

This is one of the most important purchases I have made in a long time. The Solo Harmon mute has a really positive adhesion to the trumpet bell, great centred sound totally in tune. Throughout the whole range of the trumpet this mute stays in tune, way down to bottom F# and as a professional player I have confidence in the mute not falling out during the performance the first harmon mute I have purchased that I could say this about it... I own all the Soulo mute range and this matches in quality all the way, buy with confidence.
Best Brass Trumpet Cool Jazz Copper

I was researching wah wah mutes for a while. Heard good things about the Jo-Ral mutes but that they can be heavy. Watched some video reviews online of the Best Brass wah-wahs and decided to order the copper "cool jazz" model. I could not be happier! This mute sounds awesome; very well made, nice and dark, SUPER free blowing (including the low register), and is pretty light-weight! NOTE: The copper does gradually become darker once its exposed to air, but in my opinion, it looks even cooler then! I highly recommend this mute!

With the tube removed, you can have a go at sounding like Miles Davis, but you'll probably have to bend down the lower notes to get them in tune with the higher range, or even the middle of the stave. I guess Miles did too. All practice mutes I've tried have that problem too - including the expensive Yamaha ones. With the tube in, and fully extended, it actually does play in tune with itself, at least with my trumpet. It still takes the edge off the sound, which makes it less likely to alarm passers by, when I play at home. It doesn't really make it quiet enough to practice with my immediate neighbours at home (I live in a flat/apartment), but that's not what it's designed to do. You can get quite a range of different sounds out of it, depending on how far out you have the tube, or...

We used in a Yamaha YTR 5335 gsii trumpet that fits without problem with space to spare. The cork fits snug in the bell without dropping out, time will tell. Little difference in weight worthy of note, compared to other mutes. Used mainly without the centre tube, it gives a warm darker sound than the brighter Harmon mute that was purchased to compliment this one. Aesthetically bright copper that will not doubt dull over time, it is a mute worthy of the tool bag. No problems as yet with intonation or back pressure so all good!

I love this mute, maybe because I am a huge Miles Davis fan. In any case, if you find that you need a wah wah mute for a particular show/ensemble I would recommend this one. The sound is just magnificent, with much more character than other brands of this style of mute. The response is great across all registers (still resonates on low F#) and the intonation is superb. I do find that I need to pull out my tuning slide a few centimeters, but that is to be expected. I also shaved back the corks so that it would sit more snugly in the bell, but that is just a personal preference. A really great classic wah sound with lots of character and great fun to play!
