Comfortable flatwound

I have used flatwound strings from different brands and this set is the most comfortable one for me, not to mention the warm sound out of the set.

Floppy and uneven

Put these on my pre-Joe Pass Emperor and was negatively surprised. The gearing of the tension was very weird, where the two regular strings had a much harder tension than the wound strings. It seems they have focused too much on numbers than feeling in their gearing of the gauges. The wound strings felt very floppy and loose for their gauge, which is what I want to avoid when I go flatwound. Vibration should be controlled and tension as even as possible across the strings. I also find the surface annoying, providing a subtle frizz to the touch when moving up and down the neck. I'm trying Pyramid next but my guess is I'll land at D'addario flatwounds in the end.

The Real Deal

Hybrid gauge, heavier up top and lighter bottoms, low tension, round core, they play like butter, sound great and last for a long time.

Finally...

Superb strings... Sound 100% correct, out of the box. Not overly bright, or scrapey.

Great strings for a great price

I now exclusively use these on my jazz guitar, they sound great and usually last more than other flats

Only complaint I have is that the packaging could be better

Some of the best flatwound strings

I have used the George Benson 14 gauge on my jazz guitar for years. I wanted to try a lighter set. They sound awesome, but i prefer the higher tension.

Smoothest feel

Excellent flatwound choice, comparable with any others on market. Smooth with no discernible lumps or bumps. Excellent full sound, mellow and rich. Good tuning stablility.

Even those who hate flatwounds will love them!

After my first discouraging encounter with flatwound guitar strings that were made by another well-known manufacturer (they were as dull and uninspiring as soaking-wet ropes), I decided to give these a try. I have no idea how those Austrians are able to make them this great, but I know that I will never use anything else but these 12s! Not only do they sound amazing, but they also do not seem to need much (if any at all) stretching out before playing because they hold their tuning really well right from the start. Personally, I like them even better after two to three weeks of daily playing because then they seem to become a little bit more flexible and mellow.

Finally, despite the packaging claiming that the ends are silk-wrapped, the wrapping is not actually made of real silk (according to the manufacturer), so these strings are suitable for vegans!

Beautiful strings

Taken me years to discover these. They're actually jangly as hell. Perfect for Beatles, 60's. You can get the action so low that they become light. They also hold better tune and intonation. They even sound great on acoustic guitars.

Did not suit my Strat, but on all others.

Instant upgrade for my d'Angelico EXL-1

I've just replaced the factory fitted strings (D'Angelico's own brand, but manufactured by D'Addario) and the sound, clarity and warmth of the instrument got an instant upgrade. I love the feel of flatwounds.
