They are the best strings I've used, but there again every instrument is different and every string instrument is set up differently (sound post, base bar, bridge style and position) so it's not possible for me to tell you what to use,yet I would recommend these for a fiddler playing Irish trad.

Thomastik Vision Violin A 4/4 medium

I’ve used these on my hurdy gurdies to great effect, the violin A working as a high G on a 345mm soprano gurdy. As with all Vision strings, the winding is quite delicate so take great care when changing cotton, and ensure you have nicely rounded wheel rims and minimal downward pressure against the wheel.

Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold A Violin 4/4

Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold A Violin 4/4

Based on 1 reviews

Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold are a great choice for strings, equally fit for top-notch violins and cheap practicing hardware; they bring out the best sound in both. Pros: - one of the best (if not the best) sounding strings on the market Cons: - pricey (but worth the asking price)

Thomastik Dominant 131 A Violin 4/4 Med.

Thomastik Dominant 131 A Violin 4/4 Med.

As all the Dominant strings it's not too expensive and gives you a good sound and most of all: a good voloume. This type of strings for me isn't exalting a timbric charateristic of your instrument as other strings, but Dominant is fantastic for the volume it gives you. So I'm very satisfied!
