This expansion for EZ drummer 2 is the one you should get if you are into alternative rock (Nirvana, Pixies, and so on). The sounds are really great , raw sounding ( in a good way) and with enhanced depth. As you would expect from Steve Albini, there is a lot of room / ambient sound in the presets. This really makes the samples sound realistic. Unfortunately EZ drummer 2 does not allow midi-remapping so if you are using an e-drum kit please be aware that you will only be able to play directly what is mapped as standard (kick, snare, cymbals, hi hat...but probably not the Timpani). All the other wounds will be available only in your DAW or while remapping sounds after you have played the parts. This product is available for direct download , this means there is no shipping cost: you will...

Toontrack EZX Metal Machine

Very good drumkit if you like to do a lot of metal. You're certainly not short of cymbals in this kit anyway! The sound isn't 100% what I like as I like a drum sounds more along the lines of Tool/Danny Carey but I use parts of it mixed with parts from the Progressive kit etc to make my ideal kit. Some of the cymbals sound a bit thin to me but might work in the right context. The included midi is okay but not that versatile. Probably it's worth having a few other of the Toontrack Metal EZXs (of which there are many) to have all you need for metal music making.

I will list Pros and Cons: Pros Great electronic drum kits, ready to use in production. Very modern elements are included for Afro House, Techno, Trance, EDM, House and more. The included drum loops are creative, with extra sounds that make them sound unique, and better than other EZXs from Toontrack. It is not heavy on CPU, unlike some other EZXs (I have 20GB of RAM). Cons The drum kits sound very similar to each other, and there are better tones on the market. The MIDI/tracks included are great, but it needs far, far more. Just including basic beats would add value to the product, and greatly enhance the workflow of the user.

Bought this mainly as it was on offer and thought I might be able to use it for something. So far haven't found a use for it as I'm not really a dance music person and I think it's more geared at that audience. Might be handy later on for some genre-mashing experiment, e.g. swapping out a drum in a regular kit for something for this but I can't see myself using it in its entirety. I'd say if you're into dance music though it would be good but probably a VST more orientated towards that style of music might be more appropriate.
