This might be marketed as a "pop hitmaker" type pack, but in fact it's excellent even for prog rock/prog metal. The sound of the octobans and the large gong drum in particular give an excellent proggy flavour and I've been having a lot of fun putting together crazy kits that would make Mike Portnoy proud!

Eddie Kramer at his best, those drum kits are perfect for all kind or rock music. The "Jet Black Kit" (Gretsch) really is something to believe, the way it can bring controlled energy to a song is really amazing. The other Kits are all stellar and very different from one another, and I am sure they will all soon find a place in my productions !! Stunning quality that needs a lot of storage capacity, download times are also to consider, but installation is very simple !!

Overall a great SDX, a little lacking in the midi grooves that came with it but as I own most of the catalog it's not really an issue for me. Super easy purchase and even though they say it may take a day or so for purchases to come available mine was ready in less than a half an hour. Great experience.

Very good product. Super realistic samples. Used the timpani in a live production and multiple people asked where the timpani were located in the orchestra pit. They could not believe they were samples. Lacks some instruments, like glock and vibes, but available sounds sound super great and are very playable and expressive.

This SDX was the first to be released after the release of Superior Drummer 3. The kick drums are instantly great without any processing or effects. The toms are also far better than anything in the Superior Drummer 3 core library. It has a nice big but not distant ambiance to the kit piece making it perfect for big heavy loud rock tunes. The snare drums may not be as meaty and full sounding as I would like. The tama bell brass sounds less than half as good as the core libraries Tama for example. They seem to be missing a lot of the bottom snare mics bite and rattle. The Toontrack presets are great and it has a very convincing Metallica Black Album preset called LA 1991 which is a lot of fun to mess around with.
