Konklang rubber friction mallet
These are the best quality friction mallets out there. Don't bother yourself with anything cheaper you'll just end up spending double in the long run. I went for the d1a for the deep sounds. I'm so satisfied I'm just about to buy the full set.

excellentry value
I have the whole set of these mallets they are great quailty, value, easy to use. Produce smooth sounds.
