Critical listening and home recording - great quality

Purchased as a portable quality solution to my need for a high-spec interface for critical listening applications (audio forensics) and to pull double-duty as a home recording option for me.

Really pleased with the build quality and sound of this unit and love using it - if it has enough ins and outs for your needs than it's a no-brainer and a step up from the entry level Scarlett 2i2 I think.

Comming from a Scarlett interface, this is a huge jump in quality and product, and nearly for the same price as the 4i4.

The only thing I'm missing is some routing options via software that the Scarlett had, it gets a bit weird in the beginning to get used to the controls via buttons

it's ok for the price but not great.

i'm a pro and I bought it for having a small portable interface..

pros:

*preamp are ok, defiantly for the price..

*extra line inputs are useful.

the plugins that come with it (even tough it's not many) are top level.

cons:

*has more latency on the same system then my audient id22 ..

*headphone amp is bad. really bad. I'm surprised UAD would produce such headphone output.. it can't be used at low levels as it will send unequal signal to each side of the headphones..you have to really push the volume for it to sound equal.

also the D.I input don't sound great.

it's better then behringher or scarlet in terms of preamps but it's really not a great interface.

Great quality and sound.

Build quality is great. Pre-amp adds a noticeable difference to recordings, warm and slightly saturated. Replaced a focusrite with this and it’s a step up in quality. Easy to set up, and with some excellent bundled software.
