These are probally the best sticks I've ever had. A friend recommended these to me and ever since I have used them. These drumsticks are very light and thin, so therefore they are best for quick, fast, and long pices. They're also good for long drumrolls and smashing the symbals. My expirience with these sticks has been great! If you buy these I would recommend the ones with the wooden tips. Where I bought mine they were expensive, but on Amazon.com you can get them for a decent price. Compared to my old ones these are way better.

These are quality sticks. I have only used Vic Virth 5A for over 20 years but decided to change things up a little. These Mike Portnoy 420X active grip sticks are similar to Vic Firth 5A size but they are a tiny bit longer in the length, and there is a subtle yet significant weight increase in these sticks compared with Vic Firth 5A,,, the tip is also more bulbous and slightly larger. They look and feel and grip great,, the extra weight gives a little more power when hitting which might take some getting used to but overall a fantastic pair of stick made from same quality American Hickory.

I started using these sticks in 1996 and have never chosen a different pair of field sticks since. The balance is perfect and for the marching guru, these should be the only sticks you own for the field. After marching for 5 years along with a year in drum corps, these sticks constantly hold up but I do recommend wrapping them with tape as rim shots will tear them up quickly as would any stick. While the weight of them can be surprising at first for beginners, this weight is vital as you need the weight for more projection of sound through the snare all the way to the snare head. Even at light playing, you will still have a perfect hit with the way the tips have been rounded. Give them a try! You won't be disappointed!

For someone who usually plays with standard 5Bs, these sticks were noticeably longer when playing. The balance is also different, due to the taper, from the standard and it makes me change my playing style to a degree - move my gripping point, reduce my arm movements, recalibrate the aiming. I found the adaption somewhat difficult at first, but that soon went away, and I liked the extra reach from the same position of my Hands/arms. What I did notice is that the heavier sticks made me grow tired sooner. Still I loved the extra punch and tone I got with these sticks. Also, the grip worked well for dry hands and I liked it, but had a tendency toward slippery for sweaty hands, which made me grip harder and added to the tiring. I love these sticks! I tend to sweat quite a bit when I play and I'm a hard hitter, so having sticks that are just bare, unfinished wood is perfect for me. They have good grip without having to add stick tape or any other additional grip, they won't fly out of your hands and you don't have to cramp up your hands trying to hold onto them. The sticks can take a beating as well, I bought 4 pairs about a year and a half ago and I'm still on my second pair! Great tone and response from the wood as well, the tip sounds great on a heavy ride.

I use these sticks every time for playing contemporary classical percussion setups when wooden sticks are required. The fact that they are quite thick give them a full sound on skins (toms, bongos, congas, etc...) Typically we use upside-down regular drumsticks to achieve this but then you have to hold the sticks on the taper, which is not very confortable (I personally hate it very much). Also, these sticks have a fantastic rebound which facilitates playing a lot. These sticks are the best multi-percussion sticks I have ever found !

I bought these sticks for two main reasons: 1) Keith Moon is my favourite drummer ever. 2) I use 5A most of the times. These are basically 5As, slightly shorter, thinner and lighter. I mean very slightly, almost imperceptibly. They feel nice, delivering power and speed, they have a good tip which sounds really nice on my cymbals, and they have a wonderful Union Jack printed on. I was looking for something a little lighter/shorter than a 5A, I didn't want to buy anything like 7A and stuff like that, and then I discovered that my favourite drummer's sticks were exactly what I was searching. I have tried every other stick brands, cheap, expensive, signature, i have used wincent drum sticks for a while now , said i would try these sticks as they are thicker with a bigger head, i love them if you are a rock or metal drummer they last months i play very hard with a lot of rimshots, i would recommend to any drummer who dosn't have a big budget who wants a good strong drum stick that lasts. the best stick's wincent make, Great Drum Sticks, Cons a bit heavier than i would be used too but still worth it.

The Ahead Lars Ulrich Signature Sticks SGL are a whole new breed of drumsticks for me. I've never seen anything like them before. The top part of the handle unscrews, allowing you to swap it out for different options. The sticks themselves look very cool and professional. They're quite heavy and weighty, with a massive plastic tip. They definitely feel like they'll last a lot longer than wooden sticks. I use them on my electronic kit and I'm very happy with the balance and the perfect pairing of the sticks.
