Low price but good quality
I wasn't expecting much considering the price, but I was pleasantly surprised at how these speakers performed.
Great budget speaker
bought this to make a mono monitor for my studio to have another option went it comes down to try a mix on a "not to expensive mono speaker " .
The construction is solid, im very happy with the results, if your are planning on building a home speaker o to replace a practice amp i would definitely recomend this.
Visaton BG 17 8 Ohm 6.5 inch
Having previously tried the Fane Sovereign 12-250TC 8 TRIPLE Cone, I thought I'd try a Visaton BG17 8ohm. OK, so this is only TWIN cone, and similar types have been around for years, but I have an old plastic enclosure from a stereo system, which is standard 6.5 inch speaker size, but with no tweeter. The idea of having such a wide frequency range without the requirement of crossovers. (No losses!) Everything depends on the actual performance. My hearing is good to 17.5kHz and the sound is the better than ever, nice smooth flat response, but with a rise to 5kHz (rather than the usual 3.5kHz) there's nothing seriously missing for low level monitoring, apart from bass response due to the small size. Thoroughly recommended !
Works great on a practice guitar amp
Installed it on a Rocktile 20 cheap solid state amp and just brought a new life to it.
Excelent sound reproduction
I bought this speaker to retrofit a Vox Pathfinder.
The process was quite easy, and the amp is now louder than stock, and doubles as an acoustic guitar amp for small gigs.
The sound reproduction is quite good, especially considering that the amp doesn't provide any FX.
It was definitely worth it, and the low price and high sensitivity of the speaker were a nice added bonus.
A good quality speaker that is cheap as chips
Full - ish range speaker rated at 40W. I have had good results as the single driver in a folded horn box and used in multiples of four in a line array. Eight of these in a line array works way better than a Bose 802 for not a lot of cash. They are verrrry bright, so keep the treble turned down. Also, a couple of hours of low level 30Hz sinewave breaks them in nicely before serious use.
