A little device useful to practice at home

Nice and useful but would have liked a more sturdy construction a metronome instead of rhythms and finally a little higher output with a rechargeable usb plug (nowadays even a toothbrush is...)

Great for what it's made for

That's all this is made for and it works fine.

Some cons:

When you dime the tone there's a horrible hiss

It feels a bit flimsy

But for this price I guess you can't expect a tube sound with a 78 band eq.

In the end I do recommend.

A very good thing for exercising

Finally I can play in the living room without my neighbors and women complain about the noise.

It's amazing how such a small thing can give as good bass sound. I love the option of the rhythm, really gives a new dimension to training. The aux in for MP3 players is very useful for learning songs.

Unfortunately, after a couple of month of use, the potentiometer volume began fooling around. The plastic case is quite fragile, and the device can be easily damaged when carrying in gig bag.

Good but not perfect

I believe nobody that buys this amp is hoping it to be a top tier product. That said, I was a little disapointed with the build quality, it seems to fragile. I did not have any issue yet, but every time I use it I get a little bit concerned that the smallest impact will break it, even more because it spins a lot. Maybe it's only in my head, but...

As for the sound quality it's good as long as you don't put it in the higher volumes (something like 8 of 10 or above) when I started to hear some hiss. It also has tone adjustment and some drums sounds with adjustable tempo for you to play along.

The feature I liked the most is the aux input. This feature is really helpful if you're concerned with bothering others while you are practicing.

One thing that is important to highlight is that not every P2-P2 cable will support recording on a combo input (mic + headphone, as you find in some notebooks and cellphones) from the amp output. At least it didn't work with any of the 3 cables I tried.

Summarizing, if you don't have really, really high expectations for it, this amp will probably suit your needs.

Useful product, good improvement

I've used the first generation Amplugs for a long time, and I've been happy with them. Ok, the weak plastic build quality is a slight turnoff, but I think the price properly reflects this.

The new version has lots of new features, of which the turning plug is the biggest improbement. It now fits in a smaller pocket, and the plug seems better protected during transportation. (Of course, this could turn out to be a structural weak point, but time will tell.)

It's quite hissing with the higher gain settings, but the lower settings is enough for a clean sound on a passive bass. This is a practice amp, but without the hiss, it could be used for recording, as it sounds great otherwise.

The integrated drum tracks is a fun addition that might be of use for someone. I don't use them myself, but I can't understand why they didn't include a simple click as one of the tracks. I'd have more use for that than all the other tracks together.

Good for practice

I bought this with the intention of practicing at night and also having the option of a dedicated monitor of my sound at gigs (by plugging it into the bypass output of my Boss TU-2 tuner). The sound quality isn't brilliant, but that's not a big issue. It's good enough for practicing!

The ability to add a line in and play along with music is great, and the tone controls do a decent job of EQing things.

This is definitely worth buying if you don't already have a headphone out on your amplifier. A very good product at a great price.
