Mid-focused overdrive

It's in the klon category. It's middy, and grows middier as you increase the gain. With the gain set at zero, you can use it as a clean boost with almost neutral eq. Gain cranked you get a pretty good lead sound that cuts with the right frequencies. It doesn't sound like a tubescreamer in the sense that it doesn't feel like is adding a layer of grit on top of the clean sound - instead it takes the whole signal e morphs it into something with more mid focused saturation.

It has good headroom, therefore it sounds good before or after other gain stages. And it looks awesome.

Great low gain drive/preamp pedal

The Walrus Voyager is a fantastic pedal to add a bit of grit to your tone if you're not looking for a high gain style overdrive drive/distortion, (although it can go quite dirty!) It's ideal for a wide range of genres and styles, although comparison should definitely be made to Walrus' various other models such as the Messner and Warhorn.

Pros

- Simple controls; Tone, Volume and Gain

- Small form factor and great build quality

- Jack sockets are positioned ideally for pedalboard use

- low current draw of 20mA

Cons

- Bypass switch is very noisy through the amp! (unsure if this is an isolated issue to my pedal)
