Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Violin 4/4 BE m
Based on 13 reviews
Very popular choice of strings for violinists around the globe, used for solo, chamber and orchestral work as well. Can be used even on electric violins. These are like "industry standard" where I live, almost every other violinist have them and love them on their violin. Pirazzi's features intensive powerful sound rich with overtones, good dynamics, easy playability and excellent response - all good things you'd expect from today's modern string. For those who can't decide between ol' "green" Pirazzi vs new Pirazzi Gold I would say go for Gold as they are definite upgrade, you should check them out and you definitely wont be disappointed. Just don't get me wrong, Pirazzi's are really great, but Pirazzi Gold's are even better.
Larsen Virtuoso Set Medium E/BE
Based on 9 reviews
I bought these strings for my second violin. I had Evah Pirazzi golds on my main violin and liked the sound very much - but the Larsen Virtuosos were better. I now have Larsen Virtuosos on both violins. The Larsen Vs sing on the E string like no other string I've ever tried (although there is a slight metallic sound on the open e for about the first three hours of playing, then it goes). The Evahs sing, too, but not quite as much. Both sets of strings are poweful and have lovely rich overtones - maybe the Evahs are slightly warmer and the Larsens slightly smoother. The Larsen G and D strings are marvellous - deep, clear, throbbing, rich. It's wonderful to have a rich sound on the G string that is clear, too. The A string is sweet and powerful. Both sets of strings are excellent but the...
Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold G-SI BE
Based on 7 reviews
As Pirastro's Evah Pirazzi is almost like a "industry standard" where I live for high-price strings, this is really nice upgrade. With this price tag there is no surprise that these strings plays and sounds awesome. Pirazzi Gold offers all good things that Pirazzi's gives and much more - a lot more of nice overtone action, nice long sustain, no muddiness, brilliant and full bodied tone, instant response and easy playability. Tuning stability is almost instant as you put them on but you have to break them in for about 3 days. These strings are a bit higher tension still being mediums. As for G-Gold vs G-Silver there is no better or worse. Player should choose a tonal preference according to his own style - G-silver gives more brilliant tone but G-gold produces round and full...

Prim Violin Strings Medium
Based on 3 reviews
I tried Prim strings because folk fiddler Garry Blakely uses them and his sound is magical. I found them a little difficult to get used to at first because the sound is so clean and distinct that every intonation error is immediately exposed. In contrast to, say, Zyex, or Helicore, there is no warm envelope round the sound - you have to create the warmth with the quality of your playing. On a good day I think I'm in heaven with these strings, but on a bad day, the opposite is true, so I find them challenging. Reliability is excellent - they stay in tune easily. Durability also excellent - they last and last with consistently good sound.
Warchal Amber Violin 4/4 LP
Based on 2 reviews
The Warchal Amber strings have a unique sound quality, nothing like what I've had till now on my high quality old Italian violin (and I tried so many). I needed a lasting, yet powerful and great sounding strings to use while working as a concertmaster and a solist. Time: They settle fully on the instrument in a few quick days. It's important to wait for the strings to stretch, that's when the clarity of the sound really comes. Sound / ease of playing: These have none of the metallic or artificial sound qualities many other models have. Once settled, they sound like a human voice- very warm, yet powerful. No need to put any bow pressure. They respond especially well to high bow tension and low pressure = great, singing sound. Quality of materials: My hands are very sweaty and acidic, so...
Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold G-Gold LP
Based on 2 reviews
Evah Pirazzi Gold has been my default choice of strings for years. It only takes a few days for the strings to settle and stabilize. As one of the most expensive sets of strings, these sound good for quite a long time, as do some other similarly priced synthetic strings, which somewhat justifies the higher price. Compared to other strings with similar price tags, with the evah pirazzi gold it is easy to switch between a soft and mellow tone and a powerful, brilliant tone, albeit the brilliance is a bit reduced compared to for example the original evah pirazzi or the vision titanium solo. The response isn't that great but in par with most brilliant-sounding strings. Highly recommended for playing with a lot of color.
Larsen Il Cannone Violin Strings Sol
Based on 1 reviews
Perfect for who loves powerful sound. It really gives to the instrument a dB upgrade. The tone is great, as well. G, D and A are perfectly balanced in any range, between the three strings. E string is also good, but in my opinion, I prefer to match with Pirastro Gold. It became one of my favorite strings set in my instrument (if not my fav). In orchestral performance, just have to relax a bit more to not overpass the section. The only not so good feature, is that it takes time to stabilize when the strings are new, or the weather is too hot and dry. So if you have an important performance, change it at least 1 week before.
Corelli 900F Cantiga Violin Strings
Based on 1 reviews
These strings seem to require a longer time to fit in if compared with other strings. After breaking in, they will try to stabilize in a couple of weeks, where tuning will still be needed at times. A longer period will be needed to show their full potential. The sound is clean, rich, and definitely the warm side, while also projecting the sound a lot... And big volume. Coloration is easy to achieve while also keeping the character. Tuning at 415Hz will darken the sound even more and give that "gut" feeling. The E strings is also very good. No need to change. Shiny and buttery, also in the high registers. If I compare them to the Larsen Virtuoso ones, these can hold heavier bows. 5* without hesitation.
Daddario H310-4/4M Helicore Violin 4/4
Based on 10 reviews
I've been using Helicore strings for more than 4 years now, and they are above expectations, especially in the price point. They are durable, fast to maintain tune after setting up, and have consistent sound. They are super reliable, however, they are not the type of strings that makes the violin sound outstanding though. I've been using them on my Electric violin for more than 100 gigs. They especially are superior in maintain tuning. In more than one case, my strings went broken, due to leaving them for long periods on the violin. In those case, I did change the broken strings in a couple of minutes, tune them a couple of time, and then the string would maintain the tuning until the rest of the gig. They have been also good for my acoustic violin, as they have consistently good sound....
