Advantages - it replaced my normal wittner completely - small enough to take it everwhere with you - no batteries as you wind it - easy to use Disadvantages: - Wind key is a loose part, although can be safely stored in case, i'm still afraid to lose it one day. - the black parts and innards are plastic

What does a metronome do? It goes click... What does this metronome do? That's right! It clicks! Seriously though, clockwork metronomes are unbelievably handy for helping new musicians get to grips with timing. They watch the pendulum swing and are guided through the rhythm accordingly. Sure you can get an app that goes click but it doesn't have the same impact as one of these. This is especially handy for musicians on-the-go as it takes up hardly any space in a bag.
Wittner Taktell Junior 826 Black

Nothing to say really about Wittner mechanical metronomes. Can't fault it in any way for the price. It's plastic but if you want it to look more classic you can buy the wooden ones which are more expensive. Tried and tested construction, standard parts which are available everywhere, keeps time really well and its tick has the proper loudness and pitch to use with a variety of instruments and spaces. Perhaps not suitable if someone is sleeping close by.
Wittner Taktell Pinguin
Based on 1 reviews
Purchased as a Christmas present for my Son. In the flesh, the penguin is a highly detailed, textured, rubberised plastic figure. Sadly, the pictures on the website do not illustrate how good it actually looks! The penguin won't scratch anything that you care to place it on, it's rubberised plastic! Although I wouldn't advise leaving it directly on top of a piano for any length of time without a mat underneath, just in case it might interact with the finish! It's highly stable thanks to those large orange feet & keeps his eye on you whilst practising or playing! The tick/tock sound of the metronome is classic Wittner! The weight, sorry bow tie :-) is easily adjusted. The BPM scale is highly legible alongside text descriptions of the speed. Highly recommended!
Wittner Taktell Cat

Really great and sturdy metronome. It looks better than the photo suggests, is very stable and on the heavy side, which discourages kids from using it as a toy. It oozes quality, and looks great on the piano! Overall delighted with the purchase - I strongly recommend the Taktell Cat.
Wittner Super Mini 880 Black

This is great for different locations and traveling. It is true that the numbers are hard to see, but many things are when you start to need glasses. It is loud enough to hear over Guitar, Tin Whistle or Violin and has the visual input. The inside has some plastic, which is annoying. The Key doesn't screw in, on the storage location, so don't hold it upside down, over a drain, when opening The Metronome. Also, a wood coloured alternative, that is not Mahogany, would be good. This is a great Metronome.

Pros: Excellent build quality. It's nice to hold in your hands and use it. Cons: It is very loud, which is good with a loud play, but limits its use at night, when everyone is asleep.Of course it's strange to require a mechanical metronome to adjust the volume, but I did not think about it before buying.

A simple metronome that does what it is supposed to. Even though the electronic stuff is considerably more functional - i.e. can do a lot of stuff this little thing cannot - for the humble music student, this gadget actually is much more helpful. The reason is simply that you can see the beats in the corner of your eye. (Yes I've got the electronic stuff as well, but I'm actually using this one)

This a a great traditional metronome. It is sturdy, easy too use and gives pleasant clicks. Obviously, modern electronic versions have more functionality (range of voices, interactivity etc), but anyone looking for a traditional pice can’t go wrong with this one.

I have been using Metronome Apps on my phone for quite a while. But did not like it really. A good peace of hardware is a good peace of hardware and can not be replaced by an app. This metronome offers everything one needs. The clicks are loud enought but not too loud. The bell can be turned off or on. Has everything i need and looks good.
