A lot of Filtering Options

This filter should be rated as a bit of a classic by now given that it is several years old. What you get is a lot of different filtering types, plus the ability to set 2 different resonant peaks and the amount of separation between the 2. The cutoff can be controlled via CV, or by Volt per octave tracking and the tracking works really well. I like the resonance on this filter a lot - it is very smooth and pings nicely. The filter has a lot of modulation points and be can be overdriven via the Tito switch giving the filter a bit more bite and distortion. Like all Xaoc devices the build is great as are the ergonomics.

I don't think I've used it enough to really give it a fair review.

I've currently got it taming a raw square wave with it's first-position low pass setting. Input level maxed out frequency turned up to 6. It takes the edge off of square waves well. Not all filters can do that without getting too quiet.

I don't like FM so I'm not using it for that. I never use any of the other settings on the chicken-head knob.

I discovered you can play notes on it if you send pitch from a keyboard to the 1v/oct CV. I'm always disappointed when otherwise good filters don't have a 1v/oct tracking input like the TipTop Z2040.

The filter of all modular filters

This one is so powerful you get lost in it, sometimes even for the worse, thus the 4 stars of handling. But you can dial in some absolute killer tones.

Huge filter

Huge sound, the span control of two filter poles is awesome which is also can be CV controlled. Some very interesting(and mysterious) filter shapes to play with.

Freaky Fat Filter

Extra-Unordinary voltage controlled Filter, might need some time to figure all its modes, but worth exploring. Gives a real nice edge to the overdriven and musically screaming sound; great module.

An incredibly flexible and great sounding filter

I bought this module for its varied frequency curves and twin peaks for interesting sound manipulation.

Despite being flexible it doesn't trade off in sound - it sounds amasing and can also be set up to produce more generic frequency curves.

I was particularly impressed with what can be achieved by putting it into self oscillation. By feeding it V-OCT signals you can play stable melodies and even make harmonies with the twin peaks by adjusting the span control.

If that wasn't enough the overall character can also be changed by using the TITO switch. In the neutral position it gives you a clean response, up position gives self modulating growly tones and lastly toggle down for cross modulated warbly sounds - great for drums or bass for example.

Build quality is top notch and when unboxed the module it comes protected in a bubble wrap sleeve with a Xaoc sticker, 4x mounting screws and a clearly written manual.

I couldn't be happier - highly recommended.
