Great beginner instrument

This is one of the world's top-selling beginner guitars. It's nicely built, nicely priced. I own two of these, one with pickup and one without. Thrilled!

Overall very good balance between quality and price

I had previously had the chance to play the Yamaha CX40 II, while being an owner of an electroacoustic western Fender and I have to say I immediately fell in love with the sound of the CX40 II.

I finally just got mine today and it sounds surprisingly well for its price. I am very happy with it and would recommend it highly!

J'ai une Yamaha C80. J'ai acheté la CX40 II pour mon fils et je trouve que c'est un instrument parfait pour son prix. Un très beau son, un joli extérieur. Rien à dire!

I am no expert...

...but this guitar seems to be quite good.

Good price/quality balance.

Nice sound over all.

ok sound through the element. I am gonna use an pre-amp/EQ to make it sound a bit fuller.

Good guitar for the price range

This guitar definitely gives you more than what you pay for. It is has a full & voluminous tone however on the other hand, the sound is high bass where tone differentiation suffers a bit. I found it easier to play Spanish style finger picking & manoeuvring the fret board as compared to my nicer guitar but again, there was too much bass for my liking and it would not differentiate notes as good as my other guitar. For a beginner, this is definitely more than a starter guitar & great value for money.

Yamaha CX 40

An excellent step up from a beginners instrument. My grandsons teacher was very impressed with the sound quality and volume of the instrument. Good finish and good quality materials.

We found the instrument sounded very good through my AER amplifier.
